Graylen Eastwood Is The Spitting Image Of Her Grandfather Clint

Legendary actor and director Clint Eastwood has a lookalike following in his footsteps. His 30-year-old granddaughter Graylen Eastwood shares a striking resemblance with the Academy Award winner. Graylen Eastwood, who was born in Los Angeles, also shares the same interests in the entertainment industry. 

While Clint Eastwood is a Hollywood mainstay—I mean can anyone even remember a time when he wasn't dominating the movie industry?!—his roots are rather humble. He's a self-made movie star and his biography proves it. Born on May 31, 1930, in San Francisco, California, Clint Eastwood's family grew up in a wealthy area of town in a house that had a swimming pool, while each parent had their own car and the family belonged to a country club. His father was a manufacturing executive at Georgia-Pacific, while his mother worked in a clerical role at IBM. Despite this privileged upbringing, Eastwood got into trouble as a youth and it's uncertain whether he actually graduated from high school.

As a young man, he worked in a range of odd jobs including as a lifeguard, grocery clerk, forest firefighter, golf caddy, and paper carrier. While he attempted to enroll at Seattle University in 1951, he was instead drafted into the United States Army during the middle of the Korean War. He never served overseas, however, with his former partner Sondra Locke once stating:

"He always dropped the Korean War reference, hoping everyone would conclude that he was in combat and might be some sort of hero. Actually, he'd been a lifeguard at Fort Ord in northern California for his entire stint in the military."

Incidentally, it was his time stationed at Fort Ord that led to his career in Hollywood. Although the exact story of how he caught the attention of notable people in the film industry is disputed, Eastwood eventually made it to the audition process, and while prominent producer Arthur Lubin was impressed with his looks, he disapproved of Eastwood's acting. Nonetheless, Eastwood signed an acting contract in 1954 that included attending drama classes.

After many auditions, Eastwood didn't have much luck, until he finally got a bit-part in his first movie, Revenge of the Creature (1955). A number of other small roles followed, but his contract eventually ran out and wasn't renewed. However, that didn't stop the budding actor, who continually put in the work with minor roles, until eventually, he landed a breakthrough part in 1958 as Rowdy Yates in the western series Rawhide. The series aired for five years before being canceled, but his work on Rawhide led to the movie that would put him on the map.

When his co-star Eric Fleming rejected an offer to star in a foreign-made western movie, Eastwood was suggested instead. Well, the movie was none other than A Fistful of Dollars (1964), made by a relatively unknown director at the time, Sergio Leone. The film greatly influenced the Spaghetti Western genre and led to Eastwood working with Leone on two other films in the trilogy—For A Few Dollars More (1965) and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966). 

The rest as they say is history. Eastwood's work in the Spaghetti Western genre propelled him to international stardom and led to his later work in the Dirty Harry films of the '70s and '80s. Having conquered acting, he moved on to directing by the 1990s and has had great critical and commercial success with movies such as Million Dollar Baby (2004), Mystic River (2003), and Letters From Iwo Jima (2006). He's been honored with many accolades during his lengthy career including Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and the Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion award for lifetime achievement, among numerous other film awards. He's even been honored with two of France's highest civil orders—the Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Legion of Honour medal.

Clint Eastwood recently starred in his latest film The Mule (2018). The film, which was also directed and produced by the 93-year-old, is based on the real-life exploits of Leo Sharp. Sharp gained great notoriety in 2014 when the article The Sinaloa Cartel's 90-Year-Old Drug Mule graced the pages of The New York Times. Sharp, a World War II veteran, was arrested in 2011 for helping organized crime smuggle drugs into the United States.

“Maybe I just don’t want a certain volume of work, but, no, it hasn’t lessened. I love what I do,” he told reporters.
“I’ll probably keep on going. I feel good, but it depends on material. I probably wouldn’t do something just because it was marginal—I have to kind of think it has some validity and has some relationship to today,” the now 93-year-old actor added.

Alongside his life full of career highs and lows, Eastwood has had a personal life that's been just as full. Eastwood's eight children—who were born between 1964 and 1996—are from a string of different relationships. His eldest daughter is Laurie Murray, who was born in 1954, however, Eastwood wasn't even aware that he'd fathered her until they reconnected later in life. Next came Kimber Eastwood, who was also conceived from an affair the actor had with stuntwoman Roxanne Tunis. Then came Kyle and Alison Eastwood from his marriage to Maggie Johnson. Following his marriage to Maggie Johnson, Clint Eastwood had a relationship with flight attendant Jacelyn Reeves. This resulted in two children, the first of which is Scott Eastwood, an actor and perhaps his father's most famous child, and a daughter named Kathryn Eastwood. Later on, a relationship with the actress Frances Fisher resulted in another daughter named Francesca Eastwood. Finally, his third marriage to Dina Ruiz led to an eighth child and another daughter named Morgan Eastwood.

Maybe Graylen Eastwood will be the next family member to star alongside her famous grandfather as she already has the looks down. All in all, 30-year-old Graylen Eastwood has plenty of time to catch up to her grandfather’s success, even if he does continue to direct and star in a movie here and there. Plus, there’s always the possibility that she wants a different life for herself, one outside of Hollywood. Regardless of what she does, we can rest assured that it’s worth keeping up with this young writer, actress, model, and musician because she’s clearly talented—just like her grandpa.

Although many of Clint Eastwood's brood of children are only half-siblings, they certainly appear very close, often posting photos with each other and supporting one another on social media. That's a testament to their parenting styles that have taught them the importance of family.

For those who don't know anything about Graylen Eastwood, it's worth starting from the beginning to give you a full picture of her life, including the similarities and differences she has with her grandfather. According to IMDB, the actress was born in Los Angeles, California back in 1994, making Graylen Spencer Eastwood 30 years old as of writing this article. Her dad is Kyle Eastwood, who is in show business like his father Clint Eastwood. But rather than becoming an actor, Kyle Eastwood became a musician who has released original music like the album The View From Here, which came out in 2013.

It's easy to see how growing up in that kind of household—with a grandfather known for being one of Hollywood's most famous actors and with a father as a musician—would inspire you to enter the entertainment business. With that said, it's not 100 percent clear that Graylen Eastwood has, and will, follow in her grandfather's footsteps given that she only has three film credits on IMDB—she wrote for two productions and appeared in one short. Her Instagram, however, is more insightful. In her bio, she writes, "Musician 🥁. Model~citizen. Art. Film. Production." Although it isn't widely known, Graylen Eastwood's bio hints at the fact that she plays the drums.

In addition to her acting, Graylen Eastwood also does modeling. In her photos, fans can really see the similarities between her looks and those of her grandfather’s. The model/actress/writer wrote for Masque d’Or (2014) and Parzival (2015).

It’s safe to say, then, that even though Graylen Eastwood has kept out of the spotlight, she has definitely been influenced by her dad and grandfather as far as her interests go. Only time will tell where she’ll end up from here. With that said, she has quite a legacy to live up to. After all, her grandfather is one of the most well-known actors in the world. Still, the question remains for Clint Eastwood fans: Can he keep going even though he’s 93 years old? And shouldn’t he enter retirement and leave showbusiness to his younger kids and grandkids? The answer, as far as he is concerned, seems to be a resounding no. Back in 2018 when The Mule came out, Clint Eastwood told USA Today that regardless of his age and the countless films he’s worked on, he still isn’t tired of the profession.
