Goldie Hawn is a beaming ray of sunshine in Hollywood. The 76-year-old actress has graced our screens since the late 1960s when she impressed audiences by receiving the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for "Cactus Flower." Since then, she appeared in many beloved movies and programs throughout the decades, and to this day, she continues to work.

Meanwhile, off-screen, her enduring nearly four-decade-long relationship with Kurt Russell, 71, has warmed our hearts. Their adorable and loving relationship is the sweetest, with the obvious affection they have for each other more akin to a group of teenage sweethearts than a couple that's been together for 37 years!

While the couple continued working prolifically in Hollywood after they got together, they also placed much importance on family. Their blended family consists of children they each brought to their union from their previous marriages and one son they had together. Three of their four children followed their famous parents into acting — Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson, whom Hawn had with her ex-husband Bill Hudson, and Wyatt Russell, the couple's own biological child. Moreover, most of their children have since had their own kids, which has added to the powerful family dynamic that the couple has cultivated.

Hawn has always been known for her stunning good looks, and she has continued showing just how beautiful she is inside and out every day. While Hawn is still absolutely gorgeous today, there's no denying that she was a true knockout during her heyday. Read on to learn more about Hawn's illustrious career as an actress and her heartwarming personal life.

Goldie Hawn is a woman who needs no introduction. Born on Nov. 21, 1945, in Washington, D.C., the future actress had one sister growing up and was raised Jewish. She began taking dance lessons from the age of three and even appeared in a few stage productions as a child.

By the time she was 19, she ran and taught at a ballet school after dropping out of studying drama at university. She worked as a professional dancer before moving to Los Angeles in 1966, working as a dancer and playing minor roles on television. Her dance background clearly helped her establish a strong presence when performing, which worked to her advantage in her career.

After moving to Los Angeles, Hawn didn't go unnoticed for long, and soon she was seen as an "It" girl of the 1960s. After working in television for a few years, she switched to movies, with one of her first roles in the 1969 film "Cactus Flower," which earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. This win set her career in motion; by her mid-20s, Hawn had already begun to make her name in Hollywood.

Over the next few decades, her filmography would grow to include all kinds of films, but her specialty was in comedy. She was nominated one more time for an Oscar in 1981 for "Private Benjamin" but did not receive it. Other well-known roles of hers include "Shampoo," "Overboard," "Bird on a Wire," "Death Becomes Her," "The First Wives Club," "The Out-of-Towners," "The Banger Sisters," and many more.

Hawn's romantic history tells as much a story of her life as her professional career does. Her first marriage was to actor and dancer named Gus Trikonis, whom she married in 1969. By 1973, the couple had split up. After that, she was involved with a few different men before she met and married Bill Hudson, an actor and singer who was part of the Hudson Brothers. The couple were married in 1976 and had two children together, Oliver and Kate, before they divorced in 1980.

It was then, in 1983, that she and fellow actor Kurt Russell began dating. But it wasn't the first time they'd met — in fact, their history is what makes their love story all the more remarkable. Initially, the pair met in 1966 on the set of a Disney movie titled "The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band." Still, it would be nearly two decades later, when they worked together on the movie "Swing Shift" in 1983, that they'd get together. It seems their age difference was the problem when they first met, as Hawn said much later in a BBC interview:

"I was 21 and he was 16. I thought he was adorable, but he was much too young. Then, years later we met up again, and I remembered that I liked him very much when I first met him. We both said we would never go out with another actor so it just shows you never can tell."

After getting together, the couple became inseparable and even starred in more movies together, including 1987's "Overboard," which was a big hit, as well as other movies later in their careers.

Kurt's path to stardom was a little different than Hawn's. The son of actor and minor-league baseball club owner Bing Russell, Kurt had his Hollywood debut at a very young age, when he appeared in an uncredited role in the 1963 film "It Happened at the World's Fair" at the age of 12.

He spent his teen years as a child actor before landing a 10-year contract with The Walt Disney Company in 1966. Infamously, Walt Disney wrote the words "Kurt Russell" on a piece of paper just before he died. Kurt's time working for Disney made him the "studio's top star of the 1970s," according to Robert Osborne. By the 1970s, Kurt was frequently working in Hollywood; however, he did take time off to play professional baseball, just like his father had. An injury ended his professional career and saw Kurt continue to act.

At this point, his career was firmly rooted in action movies, which earned him the status of a Hollywood hunk. He had a fruitful collaboration with horror director John Carpenter in the early '80s and began to be nominated for acting awards for his work, including a Golden Globe Award and Emmy Award; however, he did not win.

Before he began his relationship with Hawn in 1983, Kurt was married to actress Season Hubley for a few years, with whom he had a son named Boston Russell. Famously, Hawn and Kurt brought their children from their previous marriages together and started their blended family. In 1986 the couple had a child of their own, Wyatt, which brought their brood to four.

However, although the family is of the utmost importance to the couple, one unique aspect of their relationship is that they've never chosen to get married. Hawn openly discussed the topic in a 2007 Woman's Day magazine interview. Asked why they won't head down the aisle, Hawn responded:

"Because we have done just perfectly without marrying. I already feel devoted and isn't that what marriage is supposed to do? So as long as my emotional state is in a state of devotion, honesty, caring and loving, then we're fine."

She went on to mention their children and how they've managed to raise them into "beautiful people," as she added:

"We did a great job there and we didn't have to get married to do that. I like waking up every day and seeing that he is there and knowing that I have a choice. There is really no reason to marry."

Considering theirs is one of Hollywood's longest-lasting relationships, they've clearly proven their point that marriage is unnecessary as long as there is love, respect, and mutual compassion towards one another. Kurt even weighed in on the topic in an interview with the Daily Mail in 2018, as he said:

"Everyone has their marker on what is really important and where you draw the line. For Goldie and me, that core value was this: the kids come first. That big movie I turned down came at an age when they really needed one of us around."

They clearly know what it takes to make a relationship and family dynamic work, even amid the uncertainty of a Hollywood lifestyle.

On the topic of family, it's perhaps unsurprising to learn that most of Hawn and Kurt's children have followed their famous acting parents into show business; everyone except for Boston has followed in the family business!

Oliver is the eldest of their kids, and he's established a solid acting career in Hollywood for over two decades. What's more, he's incredibly handsome and takes after his biological father and gorgeous mom. In fact, Oliver's beaming, warm smile and sparkling eyes are clearly inherited from Hawn! Wyatt is also an actor who's starred in the Disney+ series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier."

And probably the most famous of the couple's children is Kate, their only daughter. Kate made a splash in Hollywood at the tender age of 21 when she won a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for the film "Almost Famous." In the following decade, she dominated Hollywood when she was a leading actress in everything from comedies to horror. Since then, she continues working as an actress but has also branched out into her fitness brand.

Now, Oliver, Kate and Wyatt all have children of their own, and it seems that Hawn and Kurt love being grandparents! Oliver is married to actress Erinn Bartlett, and they have three kids together. Wyatt and his wife Meredith Hagner only married in 2019 and welcomed their first child together last year. Meanwhile, Kate is a mother to three children from different partners. Her eldest child Ryder is with her ex-husband, her second son Bingham is with another musician, Matt Bellamy, and her daughter Rani Rose is with her fiancé Danny Fujikawa.

Hawn has been gracing our screens since the 1960s and has continued impacting the world both through her career and her work as a philanthropist. Speaking with Forbes in April 2022, Hawn talked about MindUP For Life. MindUP was founded back in 2003 and has a mission of helping children from all over the world to develop the mental fitness necessary for thriving in school and other portions of their lives. Hawn explained:

"If they are given tools when they're young, they'll be able to manage around some of the emotional ups and downs that we have during the day and in life."

MindUP For Life, an extension of MindUp, is a program that focuses more on teachers than just children. "It's for teachers, our educators, our parents," Hawn said. She continued, "The one thing to remember is that people create the world. People make things happen. Reality comes from thought and actions – it doesn't come from the beautiful earth itself."

During the interview, Hawn also reflected on her favorite moments of her career, including the film "Death Becomes Her." She said, "It was way ahead of its time and the characters were such caricatures, right? It was definitely indelible and also deeply funny."

Nowadays, Hawn admitted that finding exciting roles can be challenging. She explained:

"The roles that are set up for people like me in our age group, I've found that a lot (of) older women, and I know this sounds crazy, but I think a lot of these older women are nasty. They always seem to be pointed as grouchy, nasty or tough or whatever and I don't cut into that."

Hawn continued, "I'm not nasty. I live a happy life. I have all the fruits that I could possibly be grateful for and it's not what I want to do, but to be funny again, to be an extreme character would be just so fun."

The actress certainly was no stranger to portraying hilarious characters when she first started out in the industry. Clips from "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" have shown Hawn being her wacky, lovable self, all the while looking absolutely beautiful.

There were sketches on the show that showed footage of its female cast members, including Hawn, go-go dancing in their bikinis at times with their bodies painted with silly words and jokes.

The actress has definitely come a long way since then, but she is still just as effervescent and captivating as ever. Reflecting on her life, Hawn said:

"I could say that the movies that I've done, first of all, it's the most fun thing ever and working and acting is the gift of a lifetime and if you can do it, don't complain. Bow down, say I am so lucky – a dream come true. Along with being grateful for having the greatest ability to make people laugh, by the way."

She continued:

"Sometimes, I have to be honest, I miss that. I miss that because there's nothing more fun than making a joke funny. So, I guess when you say how do I look at my career, I look at my career is I brought a little bit of wisdom in certain things – a lot of heart. And if that is my legacy, then that would be the greatest of all."
