Goldie Hawn Falls In Love With Being A Grandmother To Her Ever-Growing Grandchildren

If you still don't know by now, Goldie Hawn is the coolest mom to her kids. Not only has she built a formidable relationship with her kids, but she also cares for them like they are still young children even up to this day.

Hawn and Kurt Russell are known for having one of the most successful romances in all of Hollywood. Although the pair have never tied the knot, they have shown that a ring and marriage certificate aren't necessary in order to have a beautiful and brilliant relationship. Their blended family is full of light and talent, and it's clear that the family has spent some amazing moments together, making memories over the years.

During her marriage to Bill Hudson, Hawn had two children, a son named Oliver Hudson and a daughter named Kate Hudson, both of whom have grown up to become successful actors. Following the finalization of her divorce from Bill, Hawn began dating Russell, and the rest is history. The couple has one biological son together named Wyatt Russell.

They also have a handful of shared homes in places all across North America, where they have enjoyed spending quality time together. Over the years, Russell and Hawn have both made it clear that their family comes above everything else, and they have set an excellent example for their own children to raise their families. 

Not only was Hawn a great mother to her three children, but her grandchildren could not have asked for a better grandmother out there as she has now focused her attention on raising the children along with her children and their parents. All in all together – Hawn has seven grandchildren. Three came from Kate, namely Ryder, Bingham, and Rani Rose. Another three from Oliver – Bodhi, Wilder, and Rio. Wyatt's son is the youngest, Buddy Prine. All of them ranged from 2 to 19 years old. 

As Hawn welcomed her grandchildren, she and Russell gained a cute nickname that only her children and grandchildren have permission to call them. It was Wyatt who revealed to Entertainment Tonight what the affectionate nickname was. 

"Starting with my brother's or my sister's first child, they're Gogo and Gogi. My dad, his wine that he makes is called Gogi because his nickname in life was Gogi, and my mom's nickname in life was Gogo. So those are what the kids call 'em," he told the outlet. 

Apparently, Hawn and Russell live nearby in the same neighborhood with his children in Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles. This meant that more quality time could be spent together with her grandchildren. 

Hawn loves her grandchildren so much she is willing to put on a costume just for them. In an Instagram post, Hawn and Russell posed in a cute blue King and Queen costume as they celebrated the birthday of Kate's youngest daughter, Rani Rose, who went as a princess in the photo. 

Aside from spending time with her grandchildren, Hawn also makes it a point to teach them valuable lessons while they are still young. Her own experience with mental health issues led Hawn to found the organization MindUp. The organization focuses on helping children improve their mental fitness so they can succeed in school and in life in general. 

Hawn told People Magazine that her children took classes on it and applied it to their parenting methods for their respective children.

In an interview with Variety, Hawn opened up that as her children grew up, she also stopped giving them advice. Instead, she started giving her grandchildren the necessary advice – ingraining the very philosophy she had lived by since she was young – to teach by example. 

"You've got to work for a living, stay compassionate and stay realistic, and I'm passing that on because that was what my father taught me: Stay in reality. Don't get taken away with everything. The rest of it is up to them. Being there for them and knowing that they're going to have to work stuff out themselves, as hard as it is," she said. 

Expounding more about his philosophy, Hawn explained to People Magazine her thought process on how her parenting techniques work and how it is also a collaborative effort for her children, who are now the parents. 

"So that's the way it works. As a parent, you basically raise your children to raise their children appropriately as well. So that's that domino effect," she revealed. "And as parents, we have a tremendous responsibility."

Evidently, the Hawn–Hudson–Russell household is a happy and closely-knitted family. On many occasions, the family is present whenever one of them achieves a milestone or even appears on the red carpet – it's always a family thing for them!

Everyone was present when they accompanied Kate at the Golden Globes in 2021 when the nominees were locked down in their respective homes. In 2018, in Hawn and Russell's movie "The Christmas Chronicles" red carpet premiere, almost everyone was present too, as Oliver also starred in the film.
