German Shepherd And Crow Play Fetch With Each Other
Jul 24, 2020 by apost team
Large dogs and birds are often viewed as adversaries, so most people would not expect to see them happily sharing the same space. However, a black crow and a German shepherd became fast friends after the orphaned bird was brought into the family. The beautiful friendship has been caught on camera and offered online for everyone to enjoy.
A Baby Crow Nurtured by a Human

The crow was rescued by the dog’s owner early in her life. Because she was abandoned by her mother, the human nurtured the bird until she was ready to leave the nest. Her adoptive human even taught her how to fly. She grew up living with the German shepherd, and they enjoyed each other's company. This bird left the human’s home after she matured, but she came back a short time later. Rather than living only with the family that she was raised with, she lived in the wild and stopped by the human’s home regularly to play and to get food.

A Fun Game of Catch Between Three Species

The video shows the man rolling a white ping pong ball to the bird and to the dog. The animals are standing only inches apart and easily pass the ball back and forth to each other and to the human. Periodically, the human rolls the ball farther away so that the bird chases it. The German shepherd is casually laying down throughout most of the video, but he gets up and actively joins in the fun toward the end of the video. Viewers can hear the crow happily cawing as he plays with the ball.
A Gesture of Thanks

The man states that the crow regularly brings him special gifts that she collects from nearby houses as a gesture of kindness or appreciation. Of course, he returns them to their original owners after he learns who they belong to.
