Sully is a Labrador retriever that has been with George since his wife died. The dog has been trained to offer companionship and to act as a service dog, alerting others of any emergencies with his handler. Sully was named for the pilot who landed the plane in Hudson River. He has been trained to offer special care to vets who need assistance. His service has been evident since George passed away.
George and Sully have spent days and nights together talking and interacting in a way that is simply beautiful. An image on the Instagram pages that have been shared about Sully shows the dog laying right next to his owner's casket. A caption of "Mission Complete" is fitting for the image of Sully as his duties for George H.W. Bush have ended.
