'Frozen In Time': Man Discovers Abandoned Manor Deep In Woods, Opens Door To Shocking Scene

Imagine walking around and finding an abandoned home in the middle of the woods. You enter it expecting to find ruin, right? Instead, you find a perfectly preserved space that’s been frozen in time. That’s exactly what happened to urban explorer Bob Thissen - twice.

Thissen was exploring deep in the woods of central France about five years ago when he discovered a giant estate that appeared abandoned. He suspected that it had been abandoned since approximately 2009. His best guess was that an elderly couple had passed away without an heir or had moved off to a senior home.

High maintenance costs might’ve spurred such owners away from this manor that held a sprawling 12 bedrooms to manage.

Instead of finding a desolate and decaying home raided by looters and left in ruins, Thissen discovered a hidden gem that was almost perfectly preserved. Aside from a little dust, the home looked as if it was just waiting for its owners to come home.

He found an uncovered piano, scattered newspapers, stocked cupboards, and all the beds perfectly made. Aside from a flat screen television and a few other odds and ends, most of the decor wasn’t from the modern 21st century.

Thissen left the home as it was, but he returned five years later. Again, he expected the house to be degraded from looters and vandals. Amazingly, he videoed the home in an almost unchanged state.

It remained perfectly frozen in time.

Its remote location and placement in the middle of a dense French forest is perhaps the home’s saving grace in remaining untouched for a decade.

Step inside the abandoned manor through Thissen’s video, which documents the pristine condition of ornate furniture, art, a piano, stuffed closets, unblemished wallpaper, books, and rugs.

What did you think about the estate? Can you believe it has remained abandoned and yet virtually untouched by outsiders? Any theories on the owners? Tell us your thoughts in the comment section and show this article to someone who might find it interesting!
