Four Dog Transformation Tales That Will Melt Every Pet Owner’s Heart

The adopt don't shop philosophy has been favourited by animal advocates and lovers for some time now.

The Hinsdale Humane Society, located in Illinois, used the phrase for a campaign to raise awareness for animals without a home.

The campaign also urged people planning to become pet owners to find the animal they wish to add to their families at animal shelters instead of retail pet shops.

When animals are adopted from shelters it gives deserving animals a second chance at a life with a family. It also discourages breeding operations that are poorly run or inhumane.

It is a heartwarming experience to watch a dog who had been alone on the streets become the member of a loving family. The owners of dogs with this experience are usually treated to love and loyalty they never knew existed.

The following four stories, all which took place in 2018, perfectly demonstrate the need for abused and neglected dogs to get a second chance.

Couple On Road Trip Find Stray Dog At Gas Station

Nick Mazzone and his girlfriend Emily Trost were enjoying a cross country road trip that would take them 10 weeks to complete. One day, a quick stop at a gas station resulted in an unforeseen turn of events.

When the couple exited the gas station in Montana they saw a stray dog lying next to their car. The dog was dirty and his fur was matted. The couple asked around just to be sure the dog did not belong to someone nearby.

A stranger approached the couple. He told them he frequented the area and fed the stray dogs whenever he could. He suggested to them they take the dog. The couple followed the suggestion of the stranger and after moments in the car with the dog, they both knew they would be a forever family.

Trost recalls the morning after they first took the dog from the gas station. The three of them woke up in a tent. Trost says it was obvious the dog, who they named Montana, was surprised the couple was still with her.

Montana traveled with the couple for the remainder of the trip and they say it was remarkable to see her blossom into a happy and energetic dog.

Apartment Maintenance Worker Finds Burned And Starving Dog

A maintenance worker in Georgia had his heart broken when he found a starving dog inside an apartment while on a service call. The worker called local authorities and was told not to remove the dog from the home. Authorities told him if he chose to remove the dog he could be charged with theft of the animal.

The frustrated worker made a call to animal control. The organization did not offer much help and only left a few notices on the door of the apartment. One day, the worker saw the animal was left outside of the apartment. the pit bull was inside of a kennel. The worker immediately took the dog to a local animal hospital. The dog weighed less than 25 pounds when he arrived at the animal hospital.

The sight of the dog caused everyone involved in his rescue and recovery to feel sadness. The dog spent the next two months at Out of the Box rescue and doubled its body weight.

If not for the concern of the maintenance worker, the dog, now known as Mikey, may have perished in the apartment.

Angry Woman Starves Ex-Boyfriend's Dog

A woman in New York purposely stopped feeding her ex-boyfriend's 16-month-old Bull Mastiff after the couple experienced a bad breakup. The sheriff's office was notified of her terrible actions in August and the woman was arrested.

Rescue Dogs Rock took the dog in and became committed to the Mastiff's rehabilitation. The dog, whose name is Champ, made a full recovery while at the shelter and is once again the happy and playful animal he was before the mistreatment.

In October, Champ was given a clean bill of health from a veterinarian and found a new home and family. A Facebook page was started for Champ and gives regular updates on how the dog is doing.
