Fluffy Golden Retriever And Adorable Baby Cat Play Together For First Time

Animal lovers everywhere will get a kick out of Bailey the golden retriever meeting her new bestie Simon the kitten. It is definitely a "ruff" go in the beginning as the sleepy kitty seems exasperated with the hulking canine. Will these two ever become friends? This video from July 2020 shows the adorable process of these two darlings forming a friendship.

Bailey the Goldie's body language is undeniable as she spots Simon the kitty for the first time ever. Her ears are perked, her tail is wagging, and she seems to be smiling. Clearly, this dog is excited about and ready to play with her new toy.

While Bailey is ready to play, Simon is not so sure about things. You will see Bailey begins sniffing the kitty, but Simon doesn't like that so much. Simon immediately makes his dislike known by batting Bailey twice on the nose with his paw. It's almost as if he's saying, "Not so fast there, buddy!"

Meanwhile, Bailey backs away a little and keeps to herself. She looks away from the kitten and only side-glances back as if saying, "I don't see you, so you don't see me. I'm not here." However, Bailey is not one to give up on the road to friendship so easily. 

Bailey seems to calm down and appears to be less threatening to Simon further in the video. Simon then allows Bailey to nuzzle his back as he tries to lie down for a cat nap. After all, kitten-ing is exhausting. Bailey continues on with her less-than-gentle nuzzles to Simon's back, and Simon is over it! What happens next is simply hilarious.

Simon backs away from Bailey, and Bailey clearly feels quite dejected. She begins pawing in the couch cushions as if she's looking for something else to play with. Simon's expression says it all, "what the heck are you doing, Goldie?"

Simon, however, seems to lose interest in Bailey's antics and is relieved they don't involve him. He prepares to find a spot to curl up in away from Bailey, and eventually slips into a slumber.

Bailey realizes Simon has lost interest and doesn't know exactly what to do with herself. So, she plops her large self down on the couch quickly waking the kitten. At this point, we're pretty certain Simon has had enough of Bailey, but he quickly surprises us.

It's play time! Finally, Simon figures he might as well play with Bailey since a nap is clearly not in his future. It is right around this time that you can see Bailey has worn herself out with all her attempts at luring the kitten to play.

Even so, Bailey and Simon nuzzle each other and you can tell this is going to be a long, happy friendship. At this time, both seem to have the sneaking feeling that they are being watched. You can tell they are now aware of the camera, and their actions are simply adorable!

Immediately, both Bailey and Simon become still as if that would make them invisible. Next, their owner reaches over and gently pets Bailey's head and paws. Simon quickly comes in for his own snuggles, wanting to be part of the love as well.

The road to friendship took a little time, but it's wonderful to see the Goldie and the kitty basking in love now!
