Flight Attendant And Pilot Girlfriend Get Engaged During Pride Flight 2 Years After Meeting In The Air

Planning the perfect proposal is no easy task, but time and again, viral videos circulate of immaculate proposals intricately catered to the newly engaged couple. From seeing people getting engaged on ice-skating rinks to surprise proposals at a couple’s favorite restaurant, there is no shortage of romance in the world. And it looks like there is always love in the air — especially for two airline employees.

Veronica is a flight attendant that met her girlfriend Alejandra, who is now a pilot, on a flight back in 2020. The two seemed to instantly hit it off and have been happily in love ever since. This is why Veronica knew that on a plane high up in the sky was the perfect setting for the ultimate romantic gesture — proposing to Alejandra!

There was no better setting than flying on Alaska Airlines as the airline offered a “Fly With Pride” plane, according to their website. Alaska Airlines News shared: “Each month, we’re treating Alaska guests to a special Delight Flight to elevate, celebrate and spark joy in the skies.” It’s clear that all of this and more came true for Veronica and Alejandra, as the former pulled off a pretty spectacular proposal, albeit with some surprises along the way.

The heartwarming moment happened on June 15, 2022, on a special flight from San Francisco, California, to Los Angeles, California. Rather than sharing the moment with just each other, Veronica proposed to Alejandra while speaking in both English and Spanish over the intercom in front of a plane full of happy flyers. According to Alaska Airlines News, SkyWest Airlines flight attendant, Veronica first met her girlfriend — now fiancée — Alaska Airlines pilot Alejandra two years ago while flying on an Alaska Airlines flight. “I was just like, ‘Oh, wow, this girl, she’s perfect,’” Veronica recalled.

Veronica found a way to make sure that her proposal was just as perfect as Alejandra, and worked with the “Fly With Pride” team to make all of their dreams come true. Veronica told her partner that they would be taking a quick trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Halfway through the flight, Veronica took over the intercom system to share a heartwarming message in both English and Spanish.

The flight attendant spoke about how much she loved Alejandra before dropping to one knee and popping the question! However, the proposal didn’t go totally to plan. According to Alaska Airlines News, Alejandra also had plans to propose to Veronica that very same day!

After the couple got off the plane, Alejandra asked Veronica the very same question at the airport gates, resulting in a double proposal celebration. “It’s awesome, I feel very, very loved today,” Alejandra said. “Alaska has always been my number one forever. I can definitely tell how much they care.”

Veronica added: “I’ve always appreciated Alaska; how deeply involved they are in the LGBTQ+ community. All the love and support is just super overwhelming and amazing.”

The airline helped surprise four flights in the month of June 2022, showing flyers that they were loved and appreciated while “creating a place of belonging.” Love truly was — and still is — in the air.
