On June 14, a Georgia woman named Mandy Hanson posted a video on her Twitter account showing her five-year-old son Camden walking on his own for the very first time.

It’s every parent’s dream to see his or her child grow to achieve every little thing in their lives. Every step forward, tags along with a very emotional experience that can’t be overlooked. For some parents, they have to live through painful yet overwhelming scenes as their child struggles to overcome certain difficulties in life. The latter statement just described these parents from Georgia: Kevin and Mandy, who have a five-year-old son named Camden.

Camden experienced some developmental difficulties and couldn’t walk forward normally even after attaining eighteen months of his life. It’s at that moment that Kevin and Mandy noticed something was amiss.

They rushed the young lad to the hospital at the time, and after undergoing an MRI, the doctor revealed that Camden had progressive cerebellar atrophy. This is a genetic condition that affects the normal development of speech and mobility.

This news would soon follow with a series of physical treatments, occupational, and speech therapy to help Camden recover from the condition. The young lad had to undergo as many as ten sessions of therapy per week.

With hopeful progress here and there, little Camden still struggles with seamless body balancing, speech, and motor skills. Unfortunately, as he continues to grow, his condition continues to become detrimental. But on the fresh side of life, the five-year-old soldier never lets anything put him down, including his condition!

According to Camden’s mother, Mandy, her son only managed to speak grunting sounds about two years back. She told Today that since then, her son has made commendable progress and now speaks fluently, including full sentences.

His fighting spirit has managed to show Camden’s tenacity and dedication to beat his condition. Recently he made a major milestone and took his first steps walking forward all alone without being helped out!

Mandy, who has been alongside her son every step of the way, couldn’t hide her joy and captured Camden’s breakthrough, taking his first steps. She went ahead to share the joyous news with the rest of the world and posted the video on Twitter. You can tell from her caption that Mandy was proud of her son’s recent progress.

The tweet read:

“Since we all could use a little happiness in our lives these days. My youngest son (age 5) has progressive cerebellar atrophy and is physically handicapped. He also has 10 therapies a week. Today, he finally took independent steps!!"

In the video posted by Mandy, you can see little warrior Camden taking small calculated steps forward before collapsing on a chair and turning his head to his mother’s side, grinning wide. From Camden’s wide smile, you can feel his pride from the progress he makes in this video and the first independent steps.

Camden became an internet sensation within a few minutes after his mother posted the video, and Mandy couldn’t be any happier. Mandy hopes that her son’s progress will encourage many other families going through the same challenges her family has been going through with her special needs son.

This young lad deserves a chance to showcase his story and inspire more people going through the same things. Feel free to send your friends and family this inspiring story of Camden and leave a glow in their lives.
