On April 15, 2019, something happened that threw the whole world in shock. Parisians were most affected by the event. The iconic Notre Dame Cathedral was burning in flames, and no one could do anything about it but watch.
The Notre Dame is a giant cathedral in Paris built during the 12th century when the inquisition was taking place in Europe. Its structure was iconic for the Catholic religion with its extrinsic decorations and almost grotesque exterior.
The cathedral was one of the most visited buildings in the world with 13 million people coming here each year. The cathedral even became iconic through the works of Victor Hugo where the cathedral was the main background of his fiction.

According to current theories of what caused the fire, a blaze came about during a mid-phase of a planned restoration of the structure of the building.
Currently, authorities are investigating the root cause of what is believed to be accidental destruction of the cathedral.
After nine hours of work, the firefighters completely extinguished the fire. The roof was mostly destroyed. The spire was collapsed on the ground.
So much of the church was destroyed, but there was still some good news.
The main structure of the cathedral is still standing. Teams immediately did everything in their power to save and support whatever was left of the relics and artifacts within the building.
Gilded candlesticks, furnishings, and art were taken out from the cathedral through a human chain into the trucks of police officers with which everything was taken to safety.
The best part that sparked hope and faith in people who saw it was the alter and crown of thorns along with the cross untouched.
Among the rubble and ashes, the priceless relics stood like a beacon of hope.
