Father Meets His Newborn Daughter Only Three Hours Before He Passes Away

It was a roller coaster of emotions for a family from the UK.

Brett Kinloch was a PE teacher from Bedfordshire. He met his new baby just three hours before he passed away after a 4-year battle with a brain tumor, reports the BBC. The bittersweet moment happened on February 11.

Brett's wife, Nicola, gave birth to the couple's third daughter and then raced back to be with her sick husband so that he could meet his little girl before he took his last breath. Thanks to caring hospital staff, they were able to make the moment happen just in the nick of time.

Brett was a teacher at the Milton Keynes Academy. This is where he also met his wife in 2010. It did not take long for their friendship to turn to love. Sadly, the romance took a turn when Brett was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma brain tumor shortly after their first daughter, Freya, was born.

Freya is now 4 years old while the couple's second daughter, Ella, is 18 months old. While Brett was originally told that he had 12 months to live, he persevered and beat the odds to hold on longer.

During this time, the family was able to travel, including holidays abroad and to Disneyland. Nicola said that Brett remained positive and never lost hope.

Brett's first round of treatments appeared to be a success. However, sadly, the family got the news that the tumor had returned to a part of the brain that was inoperable. The terrible news came just before the holidays when the couple's third daughter was on her way.

Nicola gave birth to Ariya at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital. Within 50 minutes of the birth, she was on her way with the baby and her mother to Milton Keynes Hospital to visit Brett.

Although the moment took a lot of coordination by the staff of the two hospitals, it was all worth it when Ariya was able to cuddle her dad before he passed away. While Brett could not speak, Nicola said that he was aware that the baby was there.
