One morning a farmer found something very out of the ordinary on his farm: a plant growing out of a live rat!
The farmer, Dartar Singh, from the district of Ratlam in Madhya Paradesh, India, planted a crop of soy beans.

In his field, he found a rat that had a soybean sprout growing right out of the rat's back.
The neighbors of the farmer decided to record the rodent. The little creature looked like it was in “immense pain,” one of the neighbors said. The rat tried to keep moving with the growth attached to its body, and it didn’t seem to be concerned about the people who surrounded it.
In the video, you can hear the neighbors and the farmer talking about their shock and confusion regarding the poor little rat.
In an effort to help the suffering rat, the farmer and his neighbors tried to turn the rat over and take a look at the underside of it. They saw no way that a soy bean sprout could have started to grow through the rat.
At first, the farmer thought that one of the neighbors was trying to pull a joke on him. We thought the same thing when we first saw this, as it kind of looks like something that happened to Stewie in Family Guy when he fell in the radioactive lake.
Upon closer investigation, however, Dartar decided that it couldn’t possibly be a joke. It's been hypothesized that the soybean sprouted after a seed fell into an open wound on the rat. The plant must have germinated in the wound and started to grow.
A local professor, A Siddiqui, the head of biology at a nearby college in Barnagar, spoke about the event and concluded that the plant could have caused the poor little guy to suffer consequences far worse than what the farmer saw.
The professor stated, “It's a miracle. Though the plant had grown in the region near the neck, there was no brain damage [to the rat.]”
When the group had finished recording the rodent, Dartar decided to take the rat back to his house, where he managed to remove the soy bean sprout from its back. He hopes that the rat will heal up soon. We’re sure that this little guy will stay away from bean fields after this whole ordeal!
