The “Yellowstone” Season 5 finale was packed with ample shock and drama. The main characters faced life-altering decisions, leaving viewers with many questions. While some fans felt it gave them closure, others expressed frustration.

The finale opened with activists sabotaging the Yellowstone pipeline, signaling the Dutton family’s loss in the battle for land. Beth Dutton surprised Rip by purchasing a new 27,000-acre ranch, intending to leave Yellowstone.

The departure of cowboy Travis added to the sense of finality in this emotional conclusion.

The episode also centered around John Dutton’s emotional funeral after Beth received a call and learned his body was ready for burial.

Beth solemnly reflected on her promise to her dad at his grave: “You made me promise not to sell an inch.”

She continued, “There may not be cows on it, but there won’t be condos either. We won.” Kayce also found closure with his son Tate, forgiving him as John’s casket was being lowered to the ground.

After the funeral, Beth violently confronted Jamie Dutton for his involvement in John’s death. The situation escalated with Beth attacking Jamie, and him fighting back.

As Jamie gained the upper hand, Rip arrived and pinned him to the ground. At this moment, Beth stabs Jamie and gets her revenge. Her final brutal line to him was: “I’m gonna be the last thing you ever see.”

A pivotal moment came when Kayce offered to sell the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch to Thomas Rainwater, leader of the Broken Rock Indian tribe, a move his father would have never made. However, he ensured his family’s connection by securing East Camp.

The symbolic act of removing the “Y” brand from the barn signaled the end of the Duttons’ era and the start of a new one. Yellowstone Ranch fades into history, and the characters prepare to forge new paths.

With a spin-off in the works, viewers are wondering if the next chapter will live up to the legacy of “Yellowstone.”

However, many fans expressed disappointment over unresolved storylines and poor creative choices in the Season 5 finale

On X, one user slammed the ending:

“The ‘# Yellowstone’ season finale was absolute rubbish. How long did you spend writing this one #TaylorSheridan? Fifteen minutes? You can blame Kevin Costner all you want, but YOU ruined the show.”

Another fan agreed, calling it “one of the worst series finales I’ve ever seen. Just incredibly lazy hack writing.”

One person expressed his disappointment:

“Yellowstone finale was a big let down for me. Too predictable and Taylor Sheridan put himself in too many scenes when he was not an integral part of the family. Kevin Costner was ‘Yellowstone’ and the day he left the show, it died with him.”

Another viewer shared:

“The #YellowstoneTV finale was a letdown that never should’ve happened. Sheridan ruined the best series on TV. Worse, he inserted himself and his wooden, blowhard character in the finale.”

One frustrated critic stated:

“#Yellowstone finale tonight~season thus far has been a Taylor Sheridan ego trip not worth watching. Lots of ‘cowboy b-roll,’ little to no new plot twists, killin’ off lots of actors too. My review: 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼.”

On the other hand, some fans enjoyed the finale, with one viewer appreciating the show’s efforts to provide closure.

“I surprisingly enjoyed that finale. Shows should end leaving the audience wanting more. I actually thought it was time to end it. How long are we going to watch them fight over land? It ended before jumping the shark,” a user shared.
