Fans Debate The Real Reason Why Tori Spelling Was Eliminated Early In ‘Dancing With The Stars’

"Dancing with the Stars" is one of the most-loved competition shows in television history. Since the show’s premiere in 2005, it has been dazzling audiences with show-stopping performances from renowned dancers and choreographers along with a star-studded roster of celebrities and notable personalities in entertainment and even sports. 

Week after week, athletes, actors, performers, singers, and even reality television personalities are paired with professional dancers to battle it out with their dancing prowess on the dance floor. After every week, the judges and the public vote on the cast rankings, and the lowest of the bunch bids farewell to their journey. Over the years, many have criticized the turnout of the public voting as audiences also debate the judges’ critiques of the contestants’ performances. 

In 2024, fans of the beloved television show were thrilled to welcome the star-studded cast for season 33. Among the cast were actors Reginald VelJohnson, Chandler Kinney, and Eric Roberts, model Brooks Nader, and television personalities Joey Graziadei and Phaedra Parks. 

On the second week of “Dancing With The Stars” season 33, infamous con artist Anna Delvey and “Beverly Hills, 90210” actress Tori Spelling ended their respective journeys in the competition as they received the least votes from the judges and the public. 

While many seemed to agree that Delvey’s elimination was warranted, some speculated that Spelling’s elimination might have been caused by her rather infamous reputation. On social media, fans of the show debated whether Spelling deserved to be cut off early in the season. Keep reading to learn more about what people online thought about Spelling. 

On Season 33 of “Dancing With The Stars,” Spelling was paired with renowned ballroom dancer Pasha Pashkov. On the show's second week, he and Spelling performed an emotional performance of “The Greatest Showman’s” “This Is Me,” sung by Keala Settle. 

Variety reported that Spelling and Pashkov received only 36 points from the judges, a point higher than Delvey and her partner, Ezra Sosa, who received 35 points after dancing to “Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall. 

While many thought Delvey’s performance was lackluster, ultimately warranting her elimination from the show, Spelling’s departure due to her performance received mixed comments on social media.

Some fans on Reddit believed Spelling brought a different energy into the show and deserved to stay. 

“I’m so shocked Tori & Pasha got eliminated. I really liked their energy together and she truly was giving it her all and wanted to be there. I’m so sad for them,” one wrote. 

“Tori got screwed by the double elimination and the inconsistent scoring from last week. She was improving and had it not been a double elim, she probably could’ve gained more traction,” another echoed. 

However, some theorized that there was a bigger reason why Spelling was eliminated. 

“Someone posted before tonight’s episode saying they wouldn’t be surprised to see Tori go tonight because indifference is much more dangerous than hate and I think that’s exactly what happened here. Sucks to see someone who really wanted to be there grouped together with someone who really didn’t wanna be there,” one said. 

“I feel bad for Pasha but I’m not shocked Tori went home. A lot of her generation (the same gen thats majority of people who watch this show and vote) who knows her and has kept up with her throughout the years knows of her rep and it’s not very good. I’m not surprised she didn’t get the votes,” one commented.
