Family Saves Baby Fox In Their Yard And Reunites Him With Mom

There is nothing sweeter than a tale of two being reunited. Whether it is two lovers, two friends, or two siblings, a story about a reunion is inherently heartwarming. The best accounts of two individuals getting back together, though, is when a little one is brought back together with his mama. When one family found a furry little fox in their yard, they thought they had just made a new furry friend. They did not have the slightest clue that they were about to be a part of a reunion story of a baby and his mama.

Sometimes, the animal world and the world of suburbia collide. When they do, unexpected and sometimes happy surprises result. A happy and unexpected surprise is exactly what happened for a woman named Gen and her daughter. As the Sidney Herald reported, after going outside in the backyard, Gen and her daughter came across an animal in need. They went outside to play, but they ended up saving a little life.

Gen and her daughter heard a yelping sound and went on the hunt for the source. Before long, they found it. A tiny, baby fox found itself trapped between a wall and a fence. Not only was it wedged, but it also could not find its way out. It had essentially given up on getting out and had resigned to staying there forever. Gen and her daughter were not sure how long the little critter had been trapped there. They got right to work on helping it out, though. Unsure as to whether it was a fox or a cat, they proceeded with great caution.

It did not take too long to realize how this little fox found itself in a hole, so to speak. The little fox had clearly tried to dig its way out but was incapable of doing so. Gen put on her gardening gloves and instructed her daughter to stay back a bit. Wild animals can be unpredictable, especially if they feel threatened and are babies. It was a double whammy to be sure! Gen began to slowly peel away the layers of dirt around the fox until she was exposed enough to be be freed and lifted out of her spot. Quickly, though, it became clear that there was another issue.

The little fox was no longer trapped. It did not matter, much. She was too weak to move on her own. How long had she been stuck near the fence? It appeared to have been a good long while. The furry fox could barely support her own head. Unfortunately, she would need quite a bit of nursing back to health before she was ready to be back in the wild.

Gen's daughter, of course, wanted to keep the little fox as a pet. Gen had to spend a few moments explaining how the little critter needed help and was wild. After Gen's daughter began to understand, they began organizing a plan to help nurse the fox baby back to health.

They called the local game warden who provided no insight other than to leave it be. Because of the shelter at home order, help wasn't permitted to go out to people's homes unless people's well-being was at risk. Gen and her daughter just couldn't do it. They immediately found the baby fox some shelter and water.

With the warmth from a blanket and a little nourishment, the fox was beginning to feel better.  Now, they just had to reunite the little baby with its mama. Foxee, as Gen and her daughter named the little creature, was put outside by itself. The idea was that the little fox would be able to be outside and closer to her mama. As the day went on, however, mama never came. They went in for the night, sad but ready to try again in the morning.

In the morning, it was clear Foxee's mama had arrived. The yard was completely destroyed. Clearly her mama had been looking for her. They figured out a way to reintroduce the two, and they watched and waited. The mama came, as they had hoped, and grabbed her baby by the scruff of her neck and ran back into the wild. All was right in the world again. This little fox had been separated from her mama. Fortunately, she found her way to Gen and her daughter who worked diligently to reunite the two.
