Fake Cop Pulls Over Car Packed With Actual Police Detectives

Truth can be stranger than fiction – and sometimes, it's a lot funnier! This seems like a story taken from some wacky, old movie. In Hicksville, NY, a phony cop tried to stop another vehicle, not realizing that it was loaded with real police officers. A bit like in The Wrong Arm of the Law, the 1960s movie starring Peter Sellers, a man in 2019, pretending to be a cop, tried to pull over a vehicle for a traffic stop. In the film, Peter Sellers had a gang of criminals working with him. The man in New York State acted alone. However, he had chosen the wrong vehicle.

The Nassau County Police Department has filed a report stating that the man, Valiery Portlock from Hicksville, was traveling in a black car. He blared an air horn and turned on his emergency lights in an attempt to get the van to pull over. Can you imagine what must have been running through his mind when he discovered that the van was full of Nassau County detectives – the real police?

Portlock pulled up next to the van while it was stopped in traffic and the detectives identified themselves. That was when the impostor got scared and shifted from trying to act like a cop to trying to act like he was in a Hollywood chase scene. He quickly veered into the approaching traffic and would not stop, even though he was going the wrong way. He kept speeding along until he made his way to the Long Island Expressway, driving just as fast as he could.

Pretty soon, though, the Nassau County Highway Patrol was contacted and were on the look-out for this fake cop. After a short time, he was spotted and the real cops were easily able to capture him and take him in. Valiery Portlock, 25, was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal impersonation, second-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful fleeing from a police officer along with several other violations for a moving vehicle. A real-life case of Good cop versus Bad cop. Obviously, the good cops were successful that day.

Portlock did not make good decisions on August 19th. He has, however, given us something to laugh at today.

Why not tell your friends about this man's silly actions? You just might brighten up someone's day. Also, please tell us what you think about this story. We like to hear your opinions.
