Everyone's Discussed Post Husband Wrote About Nurse Wife While She Wasn't Looking

A man named Bobby Wesson in Alabama snapped a photo of his wife in 2015 when she wasn't looking one day. It was a casual photograph of a moment before work when she was taking a quick nap with their toddler son Deacon. Bobby later decided to post the photo on Facebook, and it ended up making the rounds on the internet for the photo's subject matter and for what he wrote in its caption.

In a love letter penned to his wife for the world to see, he wrote a long tribute ending with the words, "My wife is a nurse. My wife is a hero."
He describes a typical morning before she heads to work as a trauma nurse and all the things she has to do to prepare herself for the day. Yes that includes getting ready and having a cup of coffee, but, as Bobby writes in the Facebook post, it also includes mentally preparing herself:
"She will occasionally stare off blankly as we talk; silently steeling herself for the coming shift. She thinks I don't notice.
She will kiss the baby, she will kiss me and she will leave to go take care of people that are having the worst day of their entire lives. Car wrecks, gunshot wounds, explosions, burns and breaks - professionals, poor, pastors, addicts and prostitutes - mothers, fathers, sons, daughters and families - it doesn't matter who you are or what happened to you.
She will take care of you."

Her doting husband writes about what happens when she returns home, and isn't able to leave work at work:
"She will come home 14 hours later and remove shoes that have walked through blood, bile, tears and fire from aching feet and leave them outside.
Sometimes she will not want to talk about it. Sometimes she can't wait to talk about it.
Sometimes she will laugh until she cries and sometimes she will just cry - but regardless of those sometimes she will be on time for her next shift."

It's clear that he has a lot of respect for his spouse and her line of work, and has included other Facebook tributes to her. One sweet post talks about her beauty even when "She sees scrubs covered in the worst that the world can throw at her patients."
"I have a lot of admiration for what she does," Bobby told TODAY. "She has a great passion for her responsibilities to her patients, and to her team, and to her profession. She takes it very seriously."

What a kind salute to his wife and nurses everywhere. Pass this wonderful story on to those nurses in your life. They could probably use a pick-me-up because of their stressful jobs.
