Following her win on the hit singing competition series “American Idol,” Kelly Clarkson has easily become one of the most recognizable vocalists of this generation. She is known for being a vocal powerhouse with a huge range and an incredible songwriter, along with having a vibrant, bubbly personality perfect for her own television talk show and other notable appearances. The singer has gone on to sell millions of copies of her albums and tour across the world, singing hits such as “Since U Been Gone,” “Behind These Hazel Eyes” and “Because Of You.”

Born on April 24, 1982, Clarkson grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. She took an interest in music early on, and eventually began to professionally pursue it after she graduated from high school. As fate would have it, her audition for “American Idol” was a huge success, and has since led to an incredible career and a long discography.

Clarkson is adored by many due to her hilarious personality charm, helping her host her own show titled “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” This, along with her experience on a singing competition series, has also helped her become one of the most respected coaches on “The Voice,” a show in which four popular music industry professionals help their selected teams navigate a singing competition. The singer is also known for being very candid about her struggles, including a rough divorce from her now ex-husband.

With such an illustrious career, it’s evident that Clarkson has not only made a name for herself, but has also raked in a nice amount of money. Read on to learn more about Clarkson’s life, career and her estimated net worth.

A Pricey Divorce

With a popular talk show, a great gig as a coach on “The Voice” and a long discography full of royalties, it’s no surprise that Clarkson is a big earner. She won the most recent season of “The Voice” with her singing trio called Girl Named Tom, beating out other coaches Ariana Grande, John Legend and Blake Shelton.

However, after filing for divorce from her now ex-husband Brandon Blackstock in June 2020, fans have wondered if Clarkson’s net worth has changed.  According to Yahoo News, Clarkson and Blackstock were married for almost seven years at the time of their separation, having originally met back in 2006 at the American Music Awards. They got engaged in 2012, tying the knot the following year, and even went on to welcome two kids together.

Blackstock had gone on to become Clarkson’s manager for some time, and sued the singer for over $1 million in unpaid commissions. Clarkson fired back, filing a lawsuit that claimed Blackstock and his company “defrauded” her of even more money, according to Yahoo News. Since then, Clarkson has been temporarily ordered to pay about $200,000 a month to her ex in spousal and child support until a final settlement is reached, according to Cosmopolitan.

Despite the hefty sum Clarkson will be losing each month, she has plenty of finances coming in. Celebrity Net Worth reported that Clarkson now earns about $14 million per season of “The Voice,” an increase of about $1 million from previous seasons. In total, the coach has raked in $53 million from the job, before taxes.

According to Cosmopolitan, Clarkson earns about $1.9 million a month with her combined salaries from “The Voice” and “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” She is also in the process of renegotiating her talk-show contract as she “wants a substantial increase.”

On top of that, Clarkson also has the potential to make some money by selling her homes. She and Blackstock listed their Tennessee home months before filing their divorce, which has the potential to bring in about $6.95 million, according to The Blast. Clarkson also listed her home in Encino, California, for almost $9 million.

Clarkson also has earned money from some pretty creative ventures, such as starring in “From Justin to Kelly” in 2003, along with making a handful of guest appearances in several television shows. She also lent her voice to animated films “The Star” and “Trolls World Tour.” According to Celebrity Net Worth, Clarkson also signed a book deal with HarperCollins in 2016, and released her first children’s book called “River Rose and the Magical Lullaby.” She released her second book in 2017 titled “River Rose and the Magical Christmas.”

By investing her time, effort and talents into a variety of projects, Clarkson has not only created an impressive resume, but an even more impressive net worth. According to The Richest, the star’s net worth has increased significantly over the years, with her net worth estimated at about $2.5 million in 2011 and $7 million in 2013. As of 2021, Clarkson has a net worth estimated at somewhere between $35 million and $45 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth and Wealthy Gorilla.
