Ellen DeGeneres recently brightened a little girl's day and life by giving her an epic surprise.

Taylor James, seven years old, called out a classmate for stealing her perfect attendance pencil. Her message rapidly went viral. She said: "I earned the pencil, and I really liked that pencil. It was, like, pink and then it had a pink eraser. It was really big because I never used the eraser. It had rainbows and it said 'attendance award.'"

She put the pencil in her school's sharpening box, and the next day it had disappeared. Taylor James blamed her classmate Lizzy for the theft. Even after confronting Lizzy and telling her she hadn't earned that pencil and didn't deserve it, Lizzy (or whoever took it) never gave it back. Taylor James' friend, Autumn, finally found the pencil and returned it.

Taylor James received the fancy pencil as an award for perfect attendance at school. Ellen Degeneres was moved by the little girl's plight and invited her to come on her show. She gave the child a letter to excuse her from school (so as not to break Taylor James' perfect attendance record).

On the show, Taylor James was surprised to receive a large box of school supplies for her entire class. She was also given a giant "perfect attendance" pencil, engraved with Taylor Jame's name so no one could steal it. But the real surprise? A $10,000 scholarship from Shutterfly. The scholarship will help Taylor James study her favorite subject, science.
This delightful story of an epic surprise due to the generosity of Ellen Degeneres needs to be talked about with everyone you know. So don't forget to pass this article on to your friends and family.
