The accomplished musician Paul Barton could be playing in concert halls but instead, he chooses to spend his time giving private concerts to elephants in a sanctuary called Elephants World in Thailand.
One 80-year-old elephant named Amphan was moved to tears by Barton's 2018 rendition of a classical Debussy piece, Clair de Lune.
Paul Barton is no stranger to these gorgeous creatures, having spent time on the sanctuary for years. He originally got connected with Elephants World after meeting the sanctuary's owner Khwan while on holiday, who he eventually married. The Englishman has been playing to the elephants ever since and told Coconuts Bangkok that he "...love[s] elephants and liked the sound of the place being a retirement sanctuary for old, injured, handicapped logging and street elephants."

Barton also enjoys posting videos of his moments with these majestic animals on his Youtube channel and Amphan makes a particularly special appearance. The elephant is described in the video caption as gentle and also blind in one eye, while barely able to see through the other one. Despite that, she is able to hear perfectly well so Barton leads her to his piano for a special concert.
The sweet-natured elephant immediately pauses as she hears Barton's opening notes. Her ears beginning flapping in joy and anybody can see that she is calm. There is also a gentle sway in her body as she stands immediately next to the piano and listens to the relaxing music.
Then the camera captures something absolutely incredible which is the stream of tears coming out of her eye. It seems like she is affected by Paul Barton's music and her emotions have run free.
The video concludes with a sweet gesture between Barton and Amphan, as he bows his head and touches her trunk in gratitude. The tranquil animal stands in stoic agreement among the jungle leaves knowing she is now safe and happy in the sanctuary, and on top of that she is relaxed in the comfort of Paul Barton's music, proving the old adage that "music soothes the savage beast."
In this hectic world, it's nice to take a pause sometimes and witness the bond between man and animal as well as hear tranquil classical music. Be sure to pass this on to somebody you know who might need a little break today.
