A group of eight couples put on the performance of their life with an epic dance routine at their school prom in Soltvadkert, Hungary, in January 2016. The boys were dressed in black tuxes while their gorgeous dates were dressed in big, colorful blue and pink dresses. While the outfits were similar, each one had its own flair. The girls’ dresses made them look like real princesses, as the top halves were fitted corsets and the bottoms of the dresses poofed out.
Prom is a special night for any high school student. With fun music, great friends and a night to fully enjoy yourself, it’s no wonder that these Hungarian students had such a wonderful time at their own prom; and they even took it to the next level. A video of the stellar routine was uploaded to YouTube in January 2016 and showcased the marvelous prom night. The group looked amazing as they were all dressed and dolled up, and carried out an incredible dance routine. With each change of the song, the choreography shifted to compliment the new mood the music provided.
The school’s gymnasium was packed full with the students and their families, as they watched on to see the well-rehearsed choreography. The room was full of smiles and excitement as the prom couples danced with their partner. The audience looked impressed with each twist and turn the student dancers portrayed. As the songs continued to change to emulate different styles and eras throughout history, the choreography matched, and the students lit up the dance floor.

The couples danced to a total of three songs throughout their elegant, yet extremely fun performance. The dance started with the girls in a line and the boys in a separate line on either side of the dance floor. Nerves overtook some of the students, with one girl anxiously fanning herself to calm down before going out on the dance floor.
The opening number began, and “Earned It” by The Weeknd started playing through the room. Spinning and turning in-time to match pace with the song, the couples made their way out to the awaiting dance floor. The slow-tempo chamber-pop and R&B song accompanied the rhythm of the students’ dance, as the girls' dresses seemed to bounce with each beat.
“Earned It” was originally featured in the risque movie “Fifty Shades of Grey” in 2015, as well as on The Weeknd’s debut album, “Beauty Behind The Madness.” The song was a massive success and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. With one hand on her waist and the other holding her hand, the boys were true gentlemen as they held their partners while dancing along to “Earned It.”
The song switched, as “East of the Rockies” by Bobby Darin and Johnny Mercer began playing. The contrast of such a dark, rhythmic song to a more lighthearted and bouncy tune was met well with the change of choreography the students incorporated. The song was originally featured on the singer’s and composer’s album “Two of a Kind” in 1961. The group of prom couples emulated that era as the boys swung the girls around, picking up the fun moves as the song progressed.

An Epic Dance Finale
Bouncing from one foot to the other, the students jumped happily along to “East of the Rockies,” their feet moving expertly. Everyone moved seamlessly together as the couples joined hands and shifted gracefully through an invisible line between the other couples. Shimmying from one side of the dance floor to the other, the prom dates carried out the extremely energetic section of the routine.
The prom-goers continued to adjust to the change in music as the song switched one last time to the final number in the routine. “Anyone” by Roxette began playing in the school gymnasium, and the couples danced smoothly to the Swedish pop hit. The song served as the duo’s second single from their 1999 album “Have a Nice Day.”
Dropping to one knee, the boys held their partner’s hand as the girls circled around them while moving lightly on their feet. The romantic gesture fit the tone of “Anyone,” as the song showcased bright vocals and a heartfelt melody. In an impressive move, each couple spun with each other as well as in a giant circle with everyone else on the dance floor.
Spinning their dates one last time, the boys held the hand of their partner before finally finishing the routine. The couples stood in two separate lines, and each pair stood opposite each other so they could look at their date. Chivalry was well and alive that night, as the boys carried out a final romantic gesture by offering white roses to their corresponding dance partners. The girls curtseyed and smiled in response, happy with the beautiful night that had unfolded.
