Eddie Murphy, Father Of Ten, Finally Found His Match In Love At 50

Eddie Murphy, 63, grew up in New York during the 1960s and has made people laugh with his comedic works with stand-up, television and movies for over 30 years. His works include something for children and adults alike, ranging from titles such as "48 Hrs.," "Beverly Hills Cop," "Coming to America," "Doctor Dolittle" and "Shrek." 

Aside from his professional success, Murphy is also a family man. In fact, he has ten children and is a grandfather as well! As a grandfather, he wants to be called grandpa because he thinks it sounds nicer. 

He and his long-term partner Paige Butcher, 43, have been together since 2012 in a loving and stable relationship. The couple shares two children, although Butcher also co-parents Murphys other children. Unfortunately, Murphy hasn't always had luck in love during his life. He only found love after 50. 

Butcher has previously modeled, acted, and is a voluntarist. The Australia native was born in June 1979. 

Butcher has dabbled in modeling and acting for more than 20 years. In an interview with "Vanity Fair," she said she had been modeling since she was about seven. 

"Actually, I started when I was seven or eight," she said. "My mother was a fashion designer and my father was a model. So I was modeling for my mum's stuff, and everybody said, 'You should be a model.' So at 13, I started really taking it more seriously."

While Butcher has done some acting, she was not really interested in it and has stated that she does not want to pursue it often. She was in "Something's Gotta Give", "Big Momma's House 2" and Maxim the Real Swimsuit DVD Vol. 2 (2005). 

"I moved to L.A. mainly for the lifestyle," she said in the interview. "Living in New York after 14 years, I'm such an outdoors kind of person. I love gardening and building things. I like restoring old furniture." 

She started restoring old furniture while doing Habitat for Humanity.

"I started building houses with them, and I took what I learned from them and started doing stuff for myself," she said. 

She does work around her home like electrical, brick paving paths and walls, laying drywall, hanging doors, door frames and similar handiwork. She said she enjoys it for the artistic and therapeutic avenues it provides. Immersing herself in this simple, physical work with a visible and graspable result is a wonderful stress relief for her.  

Social Media 

If one looks for Butcher on social media, she may be hard to find. 

"I had Facebook for about a year, then I moved on to Instagram, got rid of both, went to Twitter, then eventually got rid of all of them," she said. 

Butcher said she did this for privacy. 

"I'm in a relationship with a celebrity, so I felt like there's already enough of me out there. I felt like I was giving out too much information. I was giving people too much access. I like to keep as much private as possible now."

Blended Family

Murphy and Butcher found interest in each other in 2012. According to Us Weekly, he was attracted to her not for her beauty, although she certainly does turn heads, but for her down-to-earth personality. 

This personality really shines through in the way she loves to do volunteer work and share her love for being outdoors. 

Murphy and Butcher got engaged in September 2018 after previously dating for several years. Contrary to some other celebrities, the couple opted to take their relationship slow. When they wed, this will be Murphy's second marriage. He was married to Nicole Murphy from 1993 to 2006. 

When the two met, he was already a dad to eight children and it seems she is not bothered by his large family. Murphy's children range in age from 3 to 32 years old and were fathered with four women, as the comedian has had several relationships over the course of his love, although many were fleeting and short-lived. Five of his children he shares with his ex-wife, his previously longest relationship. He and Butcher have had two children of their own, bringing the total number of children Murphy has up to ten.

Although Murphy has not always had perfect relationships, he has put his children first and is a doting father to all of them. 

He told Entertainment Tonight in 2016, "The brightest part of my life is my kids [...] My world revolves around them." 

In an interview with HipHollywood, he professed similar words, "I do love my family and kids and I love being around them. And I'm always there with them."
