Eddie Murphy's Ex-Wife Nicole Melted Hearts With Pictures Of Granddaughter In Pink Dress & Headband

In addition to being a beloved comedic actor, Eddie Murphy is a dedicated dad. With nearly a dozen children, Murphy's family has even grown to now include a family of its own, making the sixty-one-year-old actor a grandfather. In reference to his ever-expanding family table, Murphy told People Magazine in 2021 that despite the numbers, he doesn't have a single child that he isn't proud of.

"I am so blessed with my kids," he said, speaking of his perhaps unconventionally large family. "I don't have one bad seed. I don't have any like 'Oh you are the one.' I don't have any of that. My kids are so great, normal people — and nobody is like the Hollywood jerk kid," he added, perhaps referencing the stereotype of the nepotism baby. "My kids are smart and are trying to do stuff. I am blessed with my kids. I really, really got lucky," Murphy beamed.

In April 2020, grandbaby Evie joined the Murphy crowd and charmed not only her grandparents but also the entire Internet. Dressed in soft pastel pink, little Evie looked cute enough for the camera as grandma Nicole Mitchell played with the tot, sharing lots of cute photos and videos of the family via Instagram. 

Formerly married to Eddie Murphy, Mitchell has been divorced from the actor for over a decade; however, they appear to be on good terms. They were married for 12 years and had five children together –– Bria, Miles, Shayne, Zola, and Bella. Newest arrival Evie is the youngest child of Miles and his wife. 

Mitchell and Murphy were married in 1993 in a lavish ceremony at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, with 500 guests in attendance. However, over time the relationship eventually failed and Mitchell filed for divorce in 2015.

Despite the dissolution of the marriage, the couple kept their priorities on their children. Murphy issued a statement at the time, saying, "The welfare of our children is our main concern and their best interest is our first priority." 

The actor has maintained this promise for all his children. These include his children with Nicole, baby Angel with former Spice Girl Melanie Brown, son Eric with Paulette McNeely, Christian with Tamara Hood Johnson, and two kids with his fiancé Paige Butcher.

In addition to Evie joining the group, Murphy and Butcher welcomed their second child –– Max Charles –– in November of 2018. He joins his older sibling Izzy Oona. The tot will surely be introduced to little Evie at family gatherings to come. 

In the meantime, this newest grandbaby continues to steal the spotlight. "My little bunny," Mitchell wrote in an Instagram post of Evie. As Nicole's only grandchild, it's clear the doting grandmother is absolutely head over heels for her granddaughter. She also posted a short video of the two of them, showing baby Evie in the early stages of crawling, as Nicole looks on with a huge smile on her face.

Comments on the post lauded over how adorable Evie is, with one commenter drawing comparisons with Nicole and her granddaughter, writing: "Junior Nicole murphy." Nicole must be proud. 

It's nice to see Murphy's and Mitchell's building more branches on the family tree, regardless of their past relationships, choosing instead to focus on the future and the happiness of their children.
