Ed Sheeran is an English singer-songwriter known for his heartfelt lyrics, soulful voice and unique blend of acoustic and electronic sounds. Born on Feb. 17, 1991, in Halifax, West Yorkshire, Sheeran began playing the guitar at a young age and quickly developed a passion for music. He grew up in a musical family, and his father was an art lecturer and a composer.

Sheeran's early musical influences included Irish folk music and hip-hop, which he listened to while performing in local venues around his hometown. After moving to London to pursue a career in music, he began playing in small clubs and recording demos, which led to him being discovered by Jamie Foxx

In 2011, Sheeran released his debut album, "+," which showcased his signature style of combining acoustic guitar and electronic beats with his poignant and introspective lyrics. He also released the album "x," which produced many of his popular songs like "Photograph," "Sing," "Tenerife Sea" and "Thinking Out Loud," among others.

"Thinking Out Loud" is perhaps one of the most iconic songs of his. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100, making it the singer's highest-charting song in the United States and Canada until "Shape Of You" arrived in 2017.

Since launching to fame in 2011, Sheeran has been a very well-known musician and singer; and his fans have loved him for his songs and his loving and kind personality in general. On Aug. 13, 2023, he surprised some of his Minnesota fans as he performed one of his early hit songs “Lego House” in the best place he could sing it. It wasn’t the first time that he did this to his fans, as he has repeatedly done it on many of his tour stops for "The Mathematics Tour. "

Sheeran started touring the world for “The Mathematics Tour" in April 2023, with a conclusion scheduled in September 2023. Sheeran went on the road in North America to visit some of the cities and states he had not previously visited before.

As he stopped by each state and city for his sold-out arena concert, Sheeran always made it a point to do something special for his fans in the area.

For instance, on his Philadelphia stop on June 3, 2023, Sheeran became a cook for a day as he served Philly Cheesesteaks to over a hundred people.

“Philly, obviously it’s cheesesteak time and I am going to learn how to make a cheesesteak,” he said in an Instagram video.

After serving cheesesteaks to a line of hungry customers, Sheeran then performed his day job – performing in front of a sold-out field at the Lincoln Financial Field while wearing former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb’s jersey.

Meanwhile, in Nashville, Tennessee, Sheeran also made a big move for his fans as he stopped by a pub in Nashville to celebrate his sold-out show at the Nissan Stadium on July 22, 2023.

"Celebrating breaking the attendance record at Nissan stadium in Nashville tonight at Santas pub. When I lived here this was the spot and it still is. Karaoke caravan and cheap beer, what’s not to love x," he said about the video clip of him doing an impromptu karaoke with an engaged couple.

Sheeran performed the Backstreet Boys' smash hit "I Want It That Way,” before turning the mic to the crowd to join him for the chorus.

During his Detroit, Michigan stop, Sheeran pulled out Eminem, a Detroit icon, to perform “Lose Yourself” in front of a sold-out Ford Field that sent the crowd wild. They also performed “Stan” afterward.

"I wondered if I can play you a cover of an Eminem song tonight," Sheeran asked his fans, as seen on filmed videos of the performance posted on social media. "I think you know it. We rehearsed it today — see how it goes."

Sheeran was obviously thrilled with the surprise duet for his fans. In an Instagram video, the Grammy-winning singer was at a loss for words as he simply captioned the video: “Detroit. What a moment.”

In Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sheeran put on the apron and became a Lego store employee for a day at the Mall of America. Sheeran stunned people as he stood behind the car register to ring up their purchases.

In the video posted by the toy brand’s official account on Twitter/X, one of Sheeran’s fans said: “Oh my God! Are you kidding me? My daughter’s gonna freak out!”

In the video, Sheeran explained his not-so-undercover-deed: “Alright, I’m here at the Mall of America in Minnesota and I have my Lego outfit on to go and be a brick specialist at the Lego Store and then play ‘Lego House’.”

Befittingly, Sheeran performed an impromptu cover of his hit 2011 song “Lego House,” which famously referenced the iconic toy.

“Alright, that was super fun. I’ve got a bunch of these ‘Autumn is coming’ mini figures and I’m going to be giving them out at the gig. See you in a bit!” he said in the video.
