It all happened in a matter of seconds. Steve Knoop, who uploaded the video to his YouTube channel in 2014, was driving with a group of friends when he noticed a disturbing sight. A baby fawn was lying in the middle of the road.

But that wasn't the only disturbing thing. The fawn appeared to be "hiding" itself: its limbs were bunched awkwardly underneath its body. Steve and his friends instantly slammed on the brakes before something tragic would happen.

According to the video's description, a man named Paul got out of the car and approached the fawn cautiously. His friends captured what he did next to become a true hero. Paul realized the fawn was still alive and acted quickly. The baby's mom was waiting in the woods not far away.
Paul examined the fawn slowly and carefully to make sure it wouldn't bolt. Once he gained the fawn's trust, Paul picked it up. Otherwise, he knew that the fawn would be in serious trouble lying in the road like that. He bundled up the fawn, holding its limbs underneath its body, and carried it into the woods.
What Paul did was very brave. However, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife advises people to leave fawns alone. If they seem helpless, mom will be nearby to intervene. If you've picked up the fawn, be sure to wipe it with an old towel that you've rubbed in the grass to remove the scent of humans. Use gloves to handle it. Keep a look out, and if mom hasn't come back in eight hours, it's time to call a rehabilitator.
Thank goodness Paul was around in this case! We're so glad that the fawn has ended up safe. Did you love this video as much as we did? Tell us below. Pass this article on to your friends and family to brighten their day.
