Yes, yes we all know caffeine is an addictive substance, and most of us are totally cool with that! That cup of coffee (I prefer expresso) or energy drink is an absolute must in the morning, or else we wouldn't be able to work or at least concentrate!

However, as much as we love our caffeine mornings, there are some things which you should know before you start your six am routine.

Researches from Australia told us that if you drink 500ml of energy drinks like Red Bull or Monster, you are increasing the chances of going into cardiac arrest. There is an increased risk of the impact if you have Long QT syndrome. Long QT syndrome is a hereditary condition that affects 1/2000 people, and because there are basically no physical signs of the condition many people don't even know they have it!

Get yourself checked out now, before slurping your next sugary goodness energy drink!

“The potential cardiovascular risk of energy drinks continues to emerge as an important public health issue. Since energy drinks are widely available to all ages and over the counter, it is important that cardiovascular effects of these drinks are investigated.”  - Professor Christopher Semsarian

A recent research study showed with a sample size of 200 participants that 8% increased in blood pressure within the first four hours and a further 10% by the end of the week and a similar increase in heart rates.
