Dolly Parton Urges Listeners To Forgive As She Performs Ode To Jesus Christ, “He’s Alive”

Through the use of her beautiful voice and incredible musical abilities, Dolly Parton urged people to practice the power of forgiveness. She carried out the heartwarming message through song with an ode to Jesus Christ. Being credited with over three thousand song attributes, Parton has proven herself as a master of composing stunning arrangements accompanied by heartfelt lyrics.

The country megastar has been making waves in the music industry for over five decades, with her debut album, “Hello, I’m Dolly,” coming out in September 1967. Since then, the talented songstress has written and performed a plethora of songs showcasing her beautiful and unique tone and great vocal agility. 

One of her most favorite songs, “I Will Always Love You,” has become a classic. The song was soft and more stripped-back in Parton’s version, but was later showcased as an anthemic spectacle in the 1992 movie “The Bodyguard,” sung by the incomparable Whitney Houston. Parton’s career has been hugely successful, making her a global icon. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999 for all of her hard work and outstanding discography.

During the Country Music Awards in October 1989, Parton performed “He’s Alive,” a breathtaking song full of profound wisdom. The arrangement moved people to tears as they listened in amazement. Parton’s vocals were on full display, with a choir supporting her with their backing vocals. Although Parton’s performance of the song was during 1989, the magic of it has recently been recapturing audiences around the world, reminding people of her stunning voice and the meaningful message.

The Song’s Powerful Message

Although Parton has been known for her gorgeous way with words and incredible storytelling abilities through the power of music, she did not write the heavenly song that moved so many people, as Don Fransisco is the credited songwriter. “He’s Alive” was phenomenal for Fransisco’s personal career, as well as for everyone who was graced with its majestic message. 

The famous musician specializes in contemporary Christian music, and has even been rewarded for his beautiful work. Receiving the Dove Award for Songwriter of the Year as well as the Dove Award for Song of the Year for “He’s Alive” in 1980, Fransisco cemented himself and his music as a force to be reckoned with.

Parton is no stranger to the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as the singer has made plenty of entries over the years with a wide collection of music. Her version of “He’s Alive” peaked at no. 58 on the charts on Jan. 20, 1990. Some of her other accomplishments on the highly acclaimed chart include her arrangement of “I Will Always Love You” with Vince Gill, which peaked at no. 15 in November 1995, as well as a no. 1 hit with Brad Paisley in March 2006 with their song “When I Get Where I’m Going.”

Parton explained why it was the right time for her to perform the song, and why she wanted to record it in the first place. According to Classic Country Music, she had first heard “He’s Alive” while she was traveling from California back to her home in Nashville, Tennessee. Since then, she always had the intention of making the song her own.

“I always wanted to do it because it moved me and I hadn’t had the opportunity because I wanted to do it with somebody that Christian,” Parton said. “You have to really feel something and be passionate about it, and believe in it to do it. The song meant a lot to me.”

The performance of “He’s Alive” began simple, with Parton dressed in an elegant, sparkly white gown. She stood alone on stage with only a microphone stand in front of her. Before she showcased her skyrocketing vocals, Parton shared some thoughts with the audience. “I feel very honored to get to sing this song on the show tonight,” she said. “As mama would say, ‘I hope you get a blessing out of it.’” 

The music began playing in the infamous Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, and Parton began her performance. Her unique vocal tone was prominently showcased with each and every word she sang, pouring her heart and soul into the melody. Like a crescendo, the performance continued to build as the song progressed, with Parton hitting each and every challenging note along the way.

A choir joined Parton for the climax of the song, vibrating strong vocals across the venue. Parton continued to sing the words, “he’s alive,” over and over again, following the lyrical progression of the heavenly tune. Once the song was over, Parton and her backup vocalists received a standing ovation as they had delivered a captivating rendition of the critically-acclaimed song.

The performance was incredibly moving, bringing plenty of audience members to tears with the stunning rendition and powerful message of the song. Parton brought new life to “He’s Alive” with her own gorgeous arrangement during an undeniably breathtaking performance.
