Dolly Parton Rejects 'Much Of Anything' Miley Cyrus Cooks As It Wouldn't Have 'Taste'

Country music legend Dolly Parton is not a fan of her goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, when it comes to cooking. While the two have a close bond and have successfully collaborated with their music in the past, they differ a lot when it comes to their culinary preferences.
In an exclusive interview in February 2023, the country legend laughed at her goddaughter's cooking style because the younger singer is into healthy food. Parton said that her 30-year-old godchild goes through a lot of phases as either a vegan or vegetarian, so her food choices are limited. On the other hand, the 77-year-old superstar prefers to indulge in a lot of bacon grease.
Parton became Miley’s godmother because of her close relationship with Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley's father, in the 1990s. Parton said in a radio interview in 2019 that she and Billy Ray bonded over their love for country music and their work on the song "Romeo." When Miley was born in November 1992, Parton believed that the baby was her fairy goddaughter.
For the last 30 years, the bond between Parton and Miley has grown stronger. Parton supported Miley's path to stardom at such an early age, especially when she was starring in the Disney series "Hannah Montana."
Parton recalled that she and Miley used to enjoy gorging on meatloaf that they cooked together. Apparently, before changing her diet, Miley was big on Southern cooking and liked mashed potatoes, coleslaw and cornbread. Aside from being an iconic singer, Parton is also a superstar in the kitchen who can whip flavorful meals like mac and cheese or the perfect eggs for breakfast.
"Miley's trying to watch what she eats now," Parton said. "I doubt I'd eat much of anything that Miley cooks 'cause it would have no taste."
The singer revealed that even if Miley cooked something for her, Parton would still improve on the dish so it would have more flavor. Admittedly, however, Parton wouldn't overindulge in rich-tasting food, but she would not also deprive herself of it.
While Parton's breakfasts with Cyrus may be a thing of the past, the country icon continues to enjoy cooking a classic Southern breakfast every weekend for her husband of 56 years, Carl Dean. The menu varies, but eggs are always included.
"I just cook whatever comes to mind and whatever I'm in the mood for. I can cook any of it," Parton said.
When it comes to life, Parton told Us Weekly that she does not give advice to her goddaughter, and it's only because the young star is a lot like her as a headstrong woman.
"Everybody says, ‘Do you give Miley advice?’ I said, ‘Nobody gives Miley advice,'" Parton relayed. "She’s (as) headstrong as I am, but we both respect each other.”
However, Parton also said she has conversations with Miley as a mother, an aunt or a godmother, and asks her questions about what's happening in her life. Miley also does the same thing and asks her questions, especially when it comes to her career. Parton feels it's still important to be involved when she's someone who has been in the music business for so long so she can try to guide her goddaughter in the right direction.
Though their culinary preferences, it's clear that the bond between Parton and Miley remains strong, with music and laughter continuing to bring them together, even if their taste buds diverge in the kitchen.
