Dog Without Part Of Face Was Left By Owners, But A Life-Changing Surgery Gave Him Another Chance

A pup named Bjarni (Norse for bear) was abandoned by his family, leaving him homeless in Hunstville. Luckily he was picked up and transported to an animal shelter where vets were able to operate on his face, which seemed to be missing a portion.

In a Facebook post by the shelter St. Francis' Angels in Texas in 2015, the details of Bjarni's plight were described. He was initially picked up by animal control in Huntsville and then brought to the shelter for care. His family were contacted but didn't want him back and "were content with allowing him to die." The shelter also said that they did not know what happened to Bjarni and probably never will.

The pupper was scheduled for reconstruction surgery and the vets took very good care of him. One of his teeth was extracted and he had a slow recovery afterward, taking it easy and living a sedentary life for a while. Vets told The Huffington Post that they realigned his nose with his sinuses giving him an easier time of eating and breathing.

Miraculously, after healing, Bjarni was basically as good as new again. His face looked great and he was adopted by a family shortly after surgery. His new mom Anne Graber said that lovely Bjarni is "Vivacious and engaging. He is totally unaware of his limitations and disfigurement," Graber told the press outlet. "He loves everything that moves."
