Dogs love to take walks and enjoy the outdoors, and they are usually happy to keep running even when their owners are exhausted. For one exceptional dog, he took this to an extreme when he ran over 100 miles in a famous marathon that took place in the Sahara Desert. The Marathon des Sables is a long tradition that has the reputation of the most grueling foot race in the world.

The super-athletic animal named Cactus took it upon himself to join the ambitious runners during the second stage of the 140-mile event. He managed to finish at a very respectable 52nd place, although he did not start at the very beginning. There were a total of 800 participants, so this is an impressive finishing result for the adorable puppy. The finishing time for little Cactus was an impressive 11 hours and 15 minutes, which is incredible considering his distance total was nearly four times that of a standard 26-mile marathon. Fans cheered the adorable guy along as they followed him via tracking technology. Some of the human participants gave the dog some water in order to enable him to continue the event with them. Perhaps his presence provided some extra motivation for the human athletes.

Cactus developed a fan base on social media during the event. After he made it past the finish line, there was a crowd of his adoring fans that were waiting to acknowledge his feat with cheers and adoration. The dog was awarded with a medal for his accomplishments. After having run over 120 kilometers, the dog seemed to be in very good condition. Dogs everywhere can look up to Cactus as a source of inspiration.
