Demi Moore Reveals Her Key To Aging Gracefully & Staying 'Confident About Her Body'

Demi Moore is an icon in her own right, and as she geared up to celebrate her milestone 60th birthday in November 2022, she hoped to defy cultural norms and feminine expectations with a new swimwear line honoring health and beauty at any age.

Moore rose to fame in the 1980s. According to Biography.com, Moore hit the big time in 1985 when she portrayed Jules in "St. Elmo's Fire." Moore became a core member of the Brat Pack. According to Insider, the term Brat Pack was coined by New York Magazine journalist David Blum to describe Hollywood's rising young movie stars, including Emilio Estevez and Rob Lowe.

Moore made her leading lady debut in "Ghost," where she starred alongside Patrick Swayze. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination. Goldberg ranked "Ghost" as one of Moore's most outstanding performances, while her roles in "A Few Good Men" and "About Last Night" were ranked second and third.

Since then, she's dominated the screen, appearing in movies such as "Striptease" and "G.I. Jane." At one point in the late 1990s, she was the highest-paid actress in Hollywood. She later enjoyed a resurgence with supporting roles in movies including "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and "Rough Night."

After stepping away from the glitz and glam of Hollywood to raise her daughters- Moore slowly stepped back into the limelight. These days, the mother, soon-to-be grandmother, actress and ambassador is showing off how amazing she looks at her age. In a 2022 interview with People, the actress spoke about some of the secrets that keep her feeling great and embracing life.

Moore has been an icon for several decades, starring in a wide range of films and showing off her beautiful looks and personality along the way. While Moore has found a great amount of fame from her time on the big screen, she has also been a hot topic of discussion for many years over her former relationships, including her past marriages to Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher.

The year 1987 is when Moore and Willis' former love story began. According to Us Weekly, the pair tied the knot in November of that year after previously meeting at the premiere of the film "Stakeout" just a few months earlier. Afterward, they started a beautiful family together and welcomed three daughters into the world: Rumer, born in 1988, Scout, born in 1991, and Tallulah, born in 1994.

While Moore and Willis appeared happy in the public eye, there were some complications behind the scenes. They shocked the world in June 1998 when they announced their separation and filed for divorce two years later. According to Us Weekly, their divorce was finalized the same day they submitted their paperwork in October 2000.

In an interview with The New York Times in 2019, Moore shared that before stepping away from the entertainment industry for a while, she struggled with harsh public criticism. Moore said that being in the public eye "was an honor, and with that came a lot of negativity and a lot of judgment towards me, which I'm happy to have held if it made a difference."

Even though she's stepped back, Moore's successful career has meant that she's remained in the public eye. This level of exposure no doubt affected how the star saw herself as she grew older. In a 2019 interview, the actress spoke about some of the challenges of aging in front of a global audience.

She touched on habits that help fight her feeling older. Notably, she said," I do believe that when we hold upset, anger, hurt, pain or bitterness, it ages us and we wear it." The actress also mentioned her more positive outlook, saying, "This year has been about trying to say yes more often."

As perhaps part of that can-do attitude, Moore partnered with Andie for her first-ever apparel collaboration. She spoke to PEOPLE in 2022 about the empowering decision.

She said, "I probably fit into the category that has not been the most confident about my body." She continued, commenting on how "Demi Moore x Andie" made her feel good, saying,

"I felt so supported and encouraged ... I really do hope it makes women feel confident."

Again, the actress spoke about how getting older has changed her outlook, saying, "For me, a big part … was thinking about the things that women feel sensitive about … They don't want to look matronly or not feel sexy or desirable." With those words, the actress definitely inspires everyone to reach a place of peace with themselves. It's encouraging to hear that Moore herself has found ways to embrace her body despite her age.
