Delightfully Chaotic Sandra Bullock-Kelly Clarkson Interview Goes Off Script

Dec 10, 2021 by apost team

Sandra Bullock is one of the biggest names in Hollywood. The Oscar-winning actress has starred in countless movies, including "Miss Congeniality," "Ocean's 8," "The Blind Side" and many more films. She still acts, but these days her kids — Louis, 11, and Laila, 8 — play a much bigger role in her life.

Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson has been a huge name in music ever since her win as the first-ever "American Idol." She still performs and releases new music. But nowadays, she's broadened her scope of work to include hosting since she has her own talk show: "The Kelly Clarkson Show."

Bullock appeared on Clarkson's talk show in December 2021, and although the two women are known for being incredibly sweet and kind, things took a chaotic albeit very funny turn when they got together. Celebrity interviews on talk shows can highlight great chemistry between two people — or a complete lack thereof. In Bullock and Clarkson's case, it was clearly the former, but that doesn't mean there weren't any misunderstandings!

At the beginning of the interview, Clarkson confessed how nervous she felt, and things only got worse (and funnier) from there. Soon enough, Bullock thought the host said it was "cool" that her parents were dead. Things only got stranger and funnier as the interview went on.

Toward the end, Bullock misheard Clarkson and thought she called her a "wh*re." Despite the many mishaps, it was clear these two had a real hoot speaking with each other. What's so great about this interview is that it shows that celebrities are just like us. Meanwhile, we're sure that they both appreciated just how funny things got in the end.

As if she knew how chaotic things would get, Clarkson said right at the start of the interview, "I'm going to be so cool," as she talked about being excited that Bullock was there. The two women began their conversation talking about Clarkson's home state of Texas, where Bullock lived for some time. It was clear that Clarkson is a huge fan and was a bit nervous interviewing Bullock. She made that clear when she said, "I'm nervous, I'm sweating!"

Soon enough, the topic changed to their children, and that's when things got weirder. After the host asked Bullock whether her kids had any singing talent, the actress revealed that her daughter Laila has "some pipes." Bullock elaborated:

"So they say it skips a generation. My parents were opera singers, I cannot sing at all."

After Clarkson asked about her parents, Bullock said, "My parents were singers, they're dead." But Clarkson in her nervousness said, "But they were singers though, okay, that's cool." That's when Bullock said without hesitation, "That they're dead?" The crowd instantly erupted in laughter, and Clarkson immediately clarified:

"No! That they're singers! It's so sad that they're dead!"

The two laughed hysterically, and Clarkson made light of the situation when she joked, "Oh my god, it's the worst date ever!" And all this happened only a third of the way into the interview! The two then talked about Bullock's new film "The Unforgivable" and even switched to the more serious topic of therapy and learning how to forgive others. That part of the interview felt more like a regular celebrity sit-down, but surely they didn't expect that things would go off the rails once again toward the end.

Around the 8-minute mark is when things really fell apart. During some confusion in which Bullock did some awkward clapping and hand gestures, Clarkson tried to make a joke about becoming a "DJ or..." but before she could finish, Bullock asked her, "Did you just call me a wh*re?" This was too much for Clarkson, who literally stood up and started pacing as she laughed hysterically. She told the actress it was "uncanny" how similar she was to her own friends. This led Bullock to keep the joke going, so she said, "Your friends are wh*res as well?"

At that point, it was clear the interview had been completely derailed. Although Clarkson tried to steer it back on topic, Bullock used that to make further jokes about producers speaking into Clarkson's earpiece. She joked:

"The producers are like, 'Segue to Christmas!' ... People have already purchased advertisement that is Christmas-themed, so yes ... I love Christmas, especially Christmas at Wayfair!"

The two women were in tears of laughter as they ran with the Wayfair joke and poked fun at Clarkson's sponsorship with the website. This prompted Bullock to sum up the interview:

"She's happy my parents died, I was called a wh*re ... she competes with you. This is an ego-driven show for you!"

Clarkson added: "This is a great interview. This is your favorite interview." The audience certainly seemed to agree, as did people online. One person wrote in the YouTube comments:

"Haven't seen Kelly laugh so much. This episode is hysterical and the chemistry between her and Sandra with her dry sense of humor is off the charts. Loved this."
