The English actress, Kate Winslet, is known for her period dramas, the portrayal of complex female characters, and independent films. Her most famous role and the film that made her a household name was "Titanic" in which she starred opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. Winslet is the recipient of an Academy Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, three British Academy Film Awards, and five Golden Globe Awards.
She has also won a Grammy Award for narrating a children's audiobook.
Winslet began her career at age 15 when she appeared on the British television series "Dark Season." Her film debut came in 1994 with the movie "Heavenly Creatures." A year later, she took home a BAFTA for her performance as Marianne Dashwood in "Sense and Sensibility." After she sky-rocketed to worldwide fame in 1997 with "Titanic," Winslet began to receive more roles in blockbuster films.
The actress has had a whirlwind career, as well as a tumultuous love life. She was first married to Jim Threapleton, who worked as assistant director on the set of the film "Hideous Kinky." Winslet fell for him, and they were married in 1998. Sadly, their love was not meant to be, and they divorced in 2001. Winslet's second marriage was to Sam Mendes, another director. They got married in 2003 and divorced in 2011. Winslet has been married to Edward Abel Smith since 2012.
From 1997s "Titanic" to 2021s "Mare of Easttown," the British actress has had a career worth standing applause. She has had major success in the public eye, all while balancing her family life.

In an interview with the New York Times in 2021, while discussing her husband, Winslet said, "He didn't particularly plan on meeting and marrying a woman who is in the public eye and therefore having been so judged." She added, "He's vegan, does yoga, breathwork and cold water swims."
After a full ten years of birth between her second child and her third, the actress told The Telegraph in 2014, 'I'm very, very lucky." "Lucky that I can have a baby at all, at my age, and doubly lucky that I'm not doing it by myself. He's a wonderful man, my Ned, and I'm truly lucky," said Winslet.
The price of fame has always been a hefty tag, but Winslet has always made parenting her top priority. While being asked about traveling and raising kids In a 2007 Good Housekeeping interview, Winslet said, "I've never left them to go do a film. No, we all go together. I could never leave them. My kids are my whole world."
When asked about motherhood, the award-winning actress also revealed, "I love the routine. I love getting up in the morning and getting breakfast and packing lunches and doing the school run. Those things are really important to me. Because I think that those small but key moments are crucial for a kid." In 2017 Winslet told Harpers Bazaar, "I want my kids to look back and remember my chicken soup and my packed lunches and that it was me on the school run."

Despite having what some would call an "unconventional" family dynamic or lifestyle, Winslet has argued otherwise.
"Once you reach your forties, you're just so damn grateful to be healthy...all the bullshit just evaporates," Winslet told Harpers Bazaar. She added, "Once you reach your forties, you're just so damn grateful to be healthy and have great riches in your life, like a lovely husband and happy kids – and all of the other shit just kind of goes away. You just don't care anymore."
From her success on the screen to off, it seems like Winslet has made three marriages and three children work for her and her family. Taking her life into her own hands, she was able to make a dream come true for work-life balance.
When asked if her kids wanted to follow in her footsteps, she said, "I would never encourage it or discourage it. I'd certainly never push them to do it. I just want them to be who they are and make their own decisions, and feel supported in whatever they choose. I mean, if they do decide they want to go into acting, I will have to take a seriously deep breath and bite my tongue. [But] I don't want to warn them against it. I would just want to say, "Absolutely, great. Go for it."
Winslet also shared a hilarious story about their son Bear. "The other day my son was very funny. He turned to me and said, 'Mom, I've got a confession to make,' He was very serious," she recalled. "He said, 'I'm just gonna come out with it. I'm just gonna say it,' and I'm like, 'Oh my god the drama.' He looks at me and says, 'I want to be an actress.'"
