David Hasselhoff, also known as "The Hoff," is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable actors in the world. In 2011, Hasselhoff set the Guinness World Record as the most-watched man on television. Throughout his career, the actor has taken roles that have captivated a global audience. Hasselhof rose to fame in 1980 after landing the role of Michael Knight in the popular crime series "Knight Rider." According to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hasselhoff's role in "Knight Rider" is one of his most memorable roles, as well as Mitch Buchannon in "Baywatch." Baywatch was a global phenomenon. In 1996, Baywatch received the Guinness World Record for garnering the largest television audience. According to Guinness World Records, the N.B.C. series drew in a weekly audience of more than 1.1 billion in 142 countries at the height of its popularity. The series has even been translated into 44 languages. Along with acting on the show, the Television icon became a producer on Baywatch. He produced several seasons from the 1990s until the series ended in 2001.
After Baywatch ended, the iconic soap opera actor began acting in different roles. Hasselhof appeared in the following films "Dodgeball," "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie," and "Click." Before Samuel L. Jackson stepped into the role, Hasselhoff was the first actor to portray the Marvel Comics character Nick Fury. Hasselhoff played Nick Fury in a television film titled "Nick Fury: Agent of S.H. I.E.L.D." Although known for his acting skills, Hasselhoff is a singer. In 1989, Hasselhoff released his debut album titled, Looking for Freedom.
David Hasselhoff is not only a television icon. The "Baywatch" actor became a Folk hero in Germany following his legendary performance on top of the Berlin Wall.
On New Year's Eve 1989, David Hasselhoff performed in a bucket crane overtop the Berlin wall. The International television star sang his hit "Looking for Freedom," which later became the anthem of German Reunification.
On the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, during an interview with Time, the pop sensational recalled his iconic performance.
"I had a pretty amazing experience," Hasselhoff said. "I have a plethora of stories of people who come to me and testified that "Looking for Freedom" was an anthem or a hymn of hope that they would sing."
At the Time, the Hollywood star didn't truly understand the significance of his performance, but he remembered fans crying as they spoke to him.
"A 45-year-old man cried," Hasselhoff recalled. "He said he was 15 years old and he grew up in Rostock, a city in East Germany, and he said, "You really had something to do with bringing down the wall." I said, "No, I didn't. I was just singing a song about freedom, and I went behind the wall and met some girls." He said, "No, it was a song of hope." My whole tour was basically about [how] we're still looking for freedom, because we are."
Hasselhoff defined the moment as "the greatest celebration of all time."
I was on a mission from God. The whole thing was surreal," He said. "I knew nothing except for having children would ever top this moment. Nothing has."
Throughout his decade-long career, Hasselhof balanced his Hollywood fame and image as a political celebrity.

Now at the age of 69, David Hasselhoff continues to work.
In an interview with Mirror. U.K., the "Looking for Freedom" singer expressed how he was looking to ditch the states for private life in Whales.
"I want to get a bit of land and a couple of sheep and call them Me and Ewe." He told the Mirror. U.K.
"I found a place way out in the woods with a Jacuzzi, away from everything," he recalled. "And I said, 'Oh my God, this is me'. It's a different lifestyle, I can just lay back. I can hike and get away from being David Hasselhoff and just be a person."
Hasselhoff's wife, Haley Roberts, is a model from Neath, Wales. According to the Sun, The couple met in 2016 and wed two years later in a small ceremony in Italy. The guest list includes close friends and Hasselhoff's two daughters, Taylor, 29, and Hayley, 27.
Although Hasselhoff was an international star, he kept that away from his children.
"Taylor-Anne and Hayley, we're growing up we tried to keep life as normal as possible," He told the Guardian. "When I was at home, I was Dad. I took them to swimming and soccer and did all the bad stuff."
The famed actor recalled the first Time his daughters found out that he was a star; it was outside of one of his Las Vegas shows, and after watching their father perform, the show moved the girls to tears.
"The girls were crying and hugging me, saying, "Wow! You're really good. We had no idea what you did." he recalled.
