The legendary David Bowie revolutionized music and art, constantly evolving his sound and image over five decades. Bowie’s death from cancer on Jan. 10, 2016, shocked the world, as he had kept his diagnosis private. Beyond his professional life, the artist was a devoted father to his two children, Duncan Jones and Alexandria Zahra Jones. Before his passing, Bowie divided his inheritance equally between them as a testament to his love.  

Bowie married Angela Barnett in 1970. They had a son, Duncan, before divorcing in 1980. In 1992, he married Somali-American supermodel Iman, and at 53, Bowie welcomed their daughter Alexandria. The half-siblings continue to honor Bowie’s memory through their achievements and tributes. 

Duncan was born May 30, 1971, and he shared a close bond with his father. In detail, Bowie nurtured Duncan’s creativity and hoped he’d follow in his musical footsteps, but Duncan pursued filmmaking. Duncan made Bowie proud with his acclaimed debut, 2009’s “Moon” and films like “Source Code” in 2011. Before Bowie’s death, Duncan revealed that he often visited him and his family in Manhattan. 

Duncan married Rodene Ronquillo in November 2012, and they had two children. In February 2016, Duncan paid tribute to his father by announcing his first child’s arrival. He wrote: “1 month since Dad died today. Made this card for him at Christmas. Due in June. Circle of life. Love you, granddad.” 

On the fifth anniversary of his passing, Duncan posted a heartfelt message reading: “Today marks 5 years since dad died. We are all a little sad, coping individually in our own ways. But it’s both remarkable & delightful that Dad is still so clearly loved by so many. Yes, he’s missed... but with so much of ‘him’ in the work he made, he’s clearly still here.”

After a picture of Bowie and Duncan was posted on X, fans pointed out the resemblance. One X user commented:

“Duncan is a fabulous man.”

On Facebook, comments included, “Very handsome like his dad. My idol,” and “Beautiful picture just looks like dad amazing.” 

Meanwhile, Alexandria, or Lexi, was born to Bowie and Iman on Aug. 15, 2000. She brought immense joy to her father, who even “assisted in her delivery and cut the umbilical cord.” Bowie and Iman revealed that they waited for the right time to have a child, focusing on family life and enjoying their “very normal” everyday moments together.

Lexi has grown into a talented artist, selling merchandise on her website. She also creates poetry and music. In February 2021, she posted a song she wrote herself, expressing her nervousness about sharing it. The caption read:

“I’m absolutely terrified to post this. I keep going back and forth between hating it and liking it. So here’s a snippet of an untitled, unfinished, very drunken rough take of a song I’m proud of on a good day.”

Fans praised her with comments like:

“You are SO talented. SENSATIONAL!!!”

Another user wrote:

“You are one of the very few children of legendary singers that can actually sing. You could have a career in music without the’ name.’ Keep going princess, beautiful voice!”

Lexi’s posts resonated with fans who continue to admire her and her father’s legacy. In January 2023, Lexi posted a tribute clip of herself and Bowie playing piano together. She captioned the post:

“7 years ago today. I miss you ❤️.” 

Lexi has matured into a beautiful young woman, drawing admiration for her looks and talents. In a May 2024 Instagram post, she was dressed in a black off-the-shoulder top with dark bangs framing her face. Fans noted her resemblance to her father with comments like:

“Daddie’s eyes,” “Soo beautiful. Wow,” and “Oh God! What a stunning lady!”
