Darci Lynne Amazes The Audience With Her Rendition Of "Summertime" On 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'

Darci Lynne, the incredible 12-year-old ventriloquist, made several appearances on the major talk shows after she won America’s Got Talent. The Ellen DeGeneres Show shared a clip of her performance that you really have to see to believe.

Ellen asked Darci how she became a ventriloquist. Apparently, it all started when Darci was just five years old. She saw a ventriloquist at church but at first, didn’t really believe what she was seeing. It wasn’t until a few years later when Darci met another ventriloquist that she realized it is actually the ventriloquist who is providing the voice for the puppet. Darci soon began practicing ventriloquism until she was sure she had it right. This is an incredible skill that takes a lot of dedication to learn. Darci has said during other performances that she enjoys ventriloquism because it helped her overcome her shyness.

Darci is most well-known for singing as her different puppets. After she and Ellen talked about her history as a ventriloquist, Darci began her performance. Darci sang the classic Ella Fitzgerald song “Summertime” as her bunny puppet Petunia.

It’s clear that Darci has an impressive range, and it’s even more incredible that she was singing with her mouth closed.

At one point during the performance Darci sang as herself, but Petunia interrupted her to keep “singing.” This dynamic interaction is all part of what makes ventriloquism so convincing.

After Darci finished performing she received a standing ovation from the studio audience. It’s no surprise considering how wonderfully she sang. She probably moved more than a few people to tears!
