Dancing Duo Sweeps The Floor With Their Hypnotizing Jelly Legs As They Dance The Shag

Dancing brings joy to people the world over. Whether you're engaging in a slow waltz or a fast swing dance, feeling the music and dancing is one of the happiest things a person can do. It's also been said that dance is a timeless interpretation of life, which is why watching people of all ages dance their socks off on social media is one of the many hidden guilty pleasures of people online. 

For some, watching young dancers is already boring in the sense that you already expect them to be great at what they do because they’re professionally trained. But there is something about older people dancing joyously and brilliantly that gives people so much joy. 

In the case of dancing partners Sam West and Autumn Jones, you wouldn’t have expected them to dance the way they did at the 2017 Grand Nationals Carolina Classic dance competition in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

As soon as the two hit the dance floor, everyone was floored by how their groove complemented each other and how their legs looked like jelly while dancing the shag.

While we can’t seem to trace the original source of the video, we found it on the internet and loved it.

Their routine might look easy, but the way they move their legs and feet so fluidly and with ease are what sent everyone’s jaw dropping on the floor.

At first glance, the two seemed to be nervous about their performance, but as soon as Jerry Lee Lewis and Bruce Springsteen’s “Pink Cadillac” blasted on the stereo, everyone was in for a good show!

Seconds into the performance, people could not help but focus on their legs. The two wore loose black pants while West donned a blue-sleeved polo as Jones was decked with a shimmering one-side off-shoulder gold top. West used what seemed to be a dancing shoe while his partner was rocking two-inched black heels. 

The two took turns in swinging, twirling, and sliding from one point to another. The audience’s eyes were glued to the duo as they effortlessly swept the dance floor with their impressive dancing skills. 

Unbeknownst to many, shag dancing is an actual type of dance. In fact, there is something called a “Carolina shag,” a partner dance done primarily to beach music that originated from – you know it – South Carolina. 

Fittingly, that’s how West and Jones won the competition. Shag is already a recognized dance in national and international dancing competitions. It is a male-led dance that allows the male dancers more room for improvisation and imagination. 

Throughout the video, the audience couldn’t help but cheer for the dancing duo for their hypnotizing jelly legs and feet. 

Online, people echoed the same sentiments as those who were in the video – stunned and delighted to see the masterful performance. 

“His footwork is PHENOMENAL!!! My goodness, they are fantastic together,” a fan commented. 

“Just FABULOUS!! He really had some moves!!! Of course, she wasn't too bad either!!!! LOVED WATCHING THEM DO THEIR THING!!” someone shared.
