Dad Wants For Lollipops To Be Banned After His 5-Year-Old Son Suffered Choking Incident Involving The Candy

In Plymouth, England, a father and his two children went out for a fun night of trick-or-treating. He is now pleading for a very popular candy to become banned in the U.K. He also wants you and everyone else to understand the hidden dangers of this timeless treat.

According to The Sun, Bobby Cole, 5, was extremely excited to go trick-or-treating with his sister and father, Brett Cole. Upon returning from their candy fueled excursion, Brett had asked if he could eat some of his candy, including a lollipop.

Brett and his wife, Deanna, normally don't allow their kids to eat lollipops. Since it was Halloween, the parents had decided that a few lollies wouldn't hurt and that the kids should enjoy whatever's in their buckets.

Suddenly, Brett had noticed something off with his son. Bobby was seated next to his mother on the sofa when his body had immediately gone limp. He was choking on a medium-sized lollipop that had separated from its stick.

Brett immediately hit his son's back in hopes to dislodge the candy. When that failed, Deanna, a Senior Healthcare Assistant, quickly performed the Heimlich maneuver on her son. Luckily, she was able to dislodge the entire lollipop piece out of his throat. A tinge of blood and spit-up came out as well according to The Sun.

"Bobby was in a bit of shock," said Brett to the tabloid. After a visit to a local hospital, the boy was deemed okay and was sent home. With plenty of rest, Bobby was miraculously back to his normal self. His father is now asking his followers on social media to join him on his quest to forgo lollipops.

"We're going to ban lollies," stresses the father of two in the post. He conveyed that he thought his son was old enough to handle this seemingly innocent treat, but he is now convinced that anyone could become a victim of its dangerous flaw. His post had remarkably reached over 35,000 people within a few hours.
