Getting a haircut is a very routine experience that most people will find enjoyable and relaxing. While it is normally something that is considered to be very safe, one man had a very bad experience and nearly died due to a freak accident that occurred during a visit to his local hair salon.

Three days after visiting a hair salon, a dad named David Tyler suddenly felt very ill and was not able to see clearly. Due to these symptoms, he was immediately rushed to the emergency room.

The surgeons on staff were able to identify that he had suffered a stroke, which was caused by a blood clot in the brain.

After doing some work to identify the cause of the clot, it was determined that Tyler actually received it when he was at the local hair salon. Before getting his hair cut, he had his hair washed which required him to lean his head back over the sink. During this process, his head was leaned back way too far, which caused blood to rush through the head. This then caused the clot to form, which led to the stroke just a few days later.

Nearly six years later, the stroke is still affecting Tyler and his family. After learning about the cause of the stroke, he was able to win a $113,000 judgment against the salon, which has been used for therapy and medical bills.

However, he still has a lot that he has to recover from.

Even today and after some gradual improvement, Tyler struggles with balance and is not able to drive a car.

After going through his experiences, Tyler advises that people always take caution when going through the hair washing process. He advises that all salons make sure that all hairdressers are made aware of this issue and that they provide the resources and training necessary.

He also suggested that patrons be aware of their current position when sitting in a chair and to make any adjustments necessary when they are not feeling comfortable. People should also be aware if they are at a heightened risk. The elderly and those that have had a stroke in the past should be even more careful whenever they are leaning their heads back.

Make sure you spread awareness about this danger to your friends and family!
