Have you ever lost someone you loved and wished you could just call them one last time to hear their voice? Some people hang on to the last messages or voicemails they received from their dearly departed just to have physical mementos of their existence, or pray to their loved ones and hope that they can hear them.

UK radio presenter James O’Brien found text messages that his young daughter had been sending to her grandad on an old phone he gave her to play games on. The phone still had contacts in it, so his daughter had been using it to message his dad - who died five years ago.

In the texts, O’Brien’s daughter tells her granddad, “I hope you have a great time in heaven. I hope you meet Jesus and I hope you had an amazing life. I absolutely love you and my life could not of been this amazing without you” and updates him about her older sister, writing, “I'm nearly 10 and Elizabeth is 12! She loved your present by the way your present was your love.”

O'Brien couldn't help but share his daughter's precious messages on Twitter, which received an overwhelmingly positive response. People started sharing their own stories about keeping in contact with their loved ones who have passed away, and they're incredibly touching.

Others shared anecdotes about children responding to the loss of a loved one in a heartwarming way.

Sometimes children know just the right things to do or say in the face of tragedy and loss. We can a learn a lot from the little ones in our life!

Do you ever try to "contact" the ones you lost to feel close to them again? Do you know any children who have prayed or talked to someone who passed away?
