Dad Adds Extra Christmas Lights After Neighbor Said His $290 Display Was ‘Tacky’

A father in the holiday spirit has recently responded to a neighbor who claimed that his Christmas lights were tacky. He decided to erect a life-size elf instead.

Billy Morgan decided to throw himself into the holiday season by decorating his entire home located in Bridgewater in Somerset, UK.

He forked out over 290 dollars to use three different projectors which beamed large seasonal characters onto his home. He also had icicles, a large snowman, and an inflatable Santa.

After two days passed, the man found a letter on his front door. The note claimed to have been written on behalf of a group of concerned neighbors who felt that his attention-seeking display was verging on being too tacky. The note requested that the man tone down his expression of Christmas joy.

This father wasn't going to let a small note interrupt his holiday happiness. He decided to blow the note up to a large size and print it out. He attached the note to a massive, inflatable elf that was recently installed in his garden. In fact, he invested over 65 dollars more to get his point across to the neighbors.

He was even willing to work overtime at his job in order to get some extra cash to cover the extra cost of the decorations. In an interview with The Sun, the 38-year-old reported that he had to "go big or go home" after someone decided to leave the critical note on his door. He continued to explain that Christmas is always a little tacky because it's supposed to be colorful and bright.

Billy explained that the judgmental note is against the Christmas ethos. His children enjoy seeing the impressive display of lights when they arrive home. Billy took to social media to share a picture of the note. In the caption, he called the note "a real Scrooge thing to do."

Family and friends commented on the social media post to offer their support for Billy and his Christmas spirit. One person applauded Billy for spreading Christmas joy and happiness. He also wished Billy and his family a happy Christmas. Another person called Billy's neighbors mean and guessed that it was only one neighbor who had left the note. The comment continued to call the unsigned letter a "cowardly" and "downright tacky" move.
