We rely on police officers to serve and protect our citizens. They’re who you call when you have a problem, whether it be with another person, your car, or if you see something suspicious. They often will go above expectations in order to help people in need. This officer went above and beyond to serve his duty when he found a cat in some unusual circumstances.
Right after Christmas time, a deputy named Mike Scott from Louisiana, got a call that stated he was needed to help an animal in grave danger. Once arriving at the specified location, what Scott witnessed was something that was a unique predicament. In his statement posted on Facebook, he noted that he was never prepared throughout his training to witness what he saw when he arrived.
He found a cat completely stuck between the garage door and the ceiling.

Other people had already been attempting to free the cat before he arrived on the scene. Helpful people such as construction workers and some of the neighbors were trying to get the animal dislodged from the door without hurting it. Thankfully, Scott arrived just in time and knew what to do from his years of experience.
Working with the helping hands, they all started by removing the molding that sat above the garage door. Once this molding was removed, the area the cat was lodged into was exposed and they were able to return her to safety. But this wasn’t a short and painless process. Getting the cat out took a couple hours. During the rescue, the unthinkable happened.
In the middle of rescue efforts, the owner of the house returned home. It turns out that the homeowner’s house had been impacted by the flooding that occurred in August, and he was out retrieving supplies to repair parts of the house that had been damaged. In shock at what he saw when he got back to his house, he was alarmed at how many people were over but thankful when he realized what they were trying to do. The owner couldn’t believe what his cat had gotten herself into.
It appears that his beloved cat, named Bella, was sleeping on the garage door when the owner had gone to the store, and it closed on top of her, leaving her stuck between the wall and the door. Thankfully, the cat escaped the situation unharmed thanks to Deputy Scott!
Deputy Scott returned to duty as a part-time employee after just two short years of retirement from his full-time career. His dedication shines through this story! He was willing to go above and beyond to save this owner’s loved four-legged friend.
The owner remains thankful to all of those who chipped in to help.
