Connecticut Man Creates Bicycle Snow Plow After He Grows Tired Of Shoveling

It's that time of year again. Trees are empty, flowers are dying, and precipitation is building up in the clouds just waiting to fall. Although some places in the world are experiencing record temperatures for this time of year, snowfall is still inevitable for many people across the United States.

You know exactly what that means. You'll probably be shoveling your driveway a few times within the next month.

While there are fancy snowblowers that you can push or even ride, many homeowners opt for the more traditional shovel approach. They figure saving a few hundred or even a few thousand dollars is well worth a few hours of exercise per year. After all, it only takes an hour or so to clean even the largest of driveways.

Since most people only experience a full driveway of snow a few times each winter, that's not too much time you'll have to spend hunched over with a shovel.

Unfortunately, the real thing is always worse than people tend to imagine. Snowboots are never quite warm enough. Gloves and mittens don't keep out the cold and certainly aren't water-resistant. Perhaps most painfully, snow is always heavier than people remember.

Instead of giving up and purchasing an expensive machine, an inventor and tinkerer from New Milford, Connecticut decided to get crafty by making his own snowplow.

The unnamed man from the Northeast built a pedal-powered plow earlier this winter because he was tired of having to shovel his driveway each time it snowed. The man has made a video depicting his invention which has gained a lot of attention on the internet. It has been shared around social media and on various news outlets. The man reports that tinkering with machines is a hobby of his. He enjoys using salvaged parts to create new inventions.

The model, seen in the video, is the result of hours of messing with different prototypes to find what worked the best. While the man admits that the machine requires some work, he says it beats shoveling and provides a nice workout in the wintertime.

What did you think of this invention? Do you think it's worth the effort or could you clear your driveway just as quickly with a shovel? Let us know what you think in the comments below. If you know of a friend or family member who would find this story interesting, feel free to show them the video. Sharing is caring, and you can't get enough of it around the holiday season.
