It has been confirmed that Scarlett Johansson is pregnant by her husband Colin Jost. Congratulations are certainly in order for the happy couple! News broke in July 2021 that Johansson was pregnant but neither she nor Jost had confirmed it until now. Jost finally addressed the rumors over the weekend of August 14 and 15, 2021, in Connecticut as he performed stand-up.
Johansson is one of the most well-known actresses around the world, but she is also known for keeping her personal life notoriously private. In the world of Hollywood, this is close to impossible to achieve, especially for someone as famous as Johansson, but the star has managed to achieve this to a great degree. To this day, not many people know that she was once married to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds and even fewer know that she is a fraternal twin brother.
The Oscar-nominated actress already has a daughter Rose, 6, with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac. Johansson had been dating Jost for three years before the couple tied the knot in October 2020. This will be their first child.
The pair first met on the set of "Saturday Night Live," which Johansson has hosted a few times over the years. Jost was a writer on the show and the pair had been acquainted with each other since 2010 according to Insider, but they only began dating in 2017.
They made their public debut in 2018 when the couple walked the red carpet together for Johansson's big night at the "Avengers: Infinity War" premiere. They became engaged in 2019 and wed in an intimate ceremony, which was kept under wraps until an official announcement.
Page Six reported that Jost confirmed the pregnancy while performing at a stand-up gig at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Connecticut. Jost reportedly said, "We’re having a baby, it’s exciting," according to a source in the audience.
Both Johansson and Jost have had a fairytale story and Access Online reported that it was definitely love at first sight for Jost. The comedian and writer recalled his first impression of Johansson in his memoir “A Very Punchable Face,” where he described her as “beautiful, smart, sweet and intimidatingly sophisticated.”
The news outlet reported that Jost had previously said that Johansson ignited his desire to have children. "I’ve even woke up on a Sunday after a show and thought, 'I would love to be raising a baby right now!'" he wrote in his book. "Which is a far cry from when I used to wake up on a Sunday and think, ‘Can I make it to the bathroom, or should I just puke on this plant?'"
Johansson reportedly already sparked rumors about pregnancy when she was noticeably absent from several "Black Widow" events. Moreover, the star also made only virtual appearances, such as a Zoom interview with Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon in June 2021, during which she was only shown from the shoulders up, according to NZ Herald.
The news was originally reported by Page Six, and a source told the outlet, "Scarlett is actually due soon, I know she and Colin are thrilled." However, when the news originally came out, they were only considered rumors and were not addressed.

Another source added, "Scarlett is pregnant but has been keeping it very quiet. She has been keeping a very low profile." They continued, "She hasn't been doing many interviews or events to promote Black Widow which is surprising since it is a huge Marvel/Disney release and she is both the star and an executive producer."
Even though Johansson and Jost are usually regular visitors to the Hamptons in Montauk, local residents also said that they haven't seen the star and her husband very often. NZ Herald reported that a source said, "Scarlett usually spends a lot of the summer out in Amagansett and Montauk, and you'd often see her walking her dogs on the beach or getting coffee. But this summer it seems like she is deliberately trying to keep a low profile."
Jost and Johansson have both kept their lives private as much as possible and took their time to confirm the news of their pregnancy. This is understandable as most celebrities are not afforded their privacy often.
On why she keeps her personal life on the down-low, according to Page Six, Johansson said in 2011:
"My favorite actors are actors who are enigmatic and mysterious and never make the obvious choice in terms of the projects they do or who they work with or their craft.” She explains that the less she knows about an actor, the more it allows for their own persona to slip away and that helps her to get really immersed in the character that they are playing."
"The more that people think they know about your personal life, the more difficult it becomes to preserve that," she added.
