Claire Danes Jokes Her Son Isn't Happy She's Pregnant With 3rd Child: 'Give It To A Family That Doesn't Have A Baby'

Claire Danes is glowing with excitement after announcing that she's pregnant with her third baby with husband Hugh Dancy, but she didn't get the same reaction from her second child, Rowan.

Danes and Dancy met in 2006 on the set of the movie "Evening," but it took time for her to warm up to a new romance after a string of bad relationships. However, after a failed one-night stand with someone else, Danes came to realize after spending time with Dancy on the set in Rhode Island that she was very happy with his company. From there, she knew he was the man she was going to marry. 

After going out on a few dates, Danes fell in love with Dancy after learning more things about him, like he crafts paper dolls and Christmas ornaments. Dancy, on the other hand, knew that Danes was the one early on.

In February 2009, Dancy proposed to Danes, and they got married that September. In 2012, they welcomed their first child. Danes said in an interview with Elle that she was glad she waited to have a child as she was fortunate to have an opportunity to focus on work first. She knew giving up her successful Hollywood career to be a stay-at-home didn't suit her.  

Cyrus, their first-born, become a big brother when Danes gave birth to Rowan in 2018. Speaking on Access Hollywood in January 2023, Danes said that her pregnancies have been evenly spaced out, but the third child was "not intentional." Nonetheless, she and Dancy are thrilled to have another baby on the way. 

Danes was pregnant both times while filming her award-winning spy series, "Homeland," overseas. The actress relished having her children on the set while she worked on the show, as she believes the busy production environment is great for her children's stimulation. 

Danes was in the second trimester of her pregnancy when she graced the red carpet with her husband at the Golden Globes in January 2023. The couple has yet to find out if their third baby is going to be a girl or another boy, but Rowan, apparently, expressed that he already does not like the baby. 

During her appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Jan. 27, 2023, Danes said that her son had a proposal about the coming baby: 

“When it comes out of your tummy, we’ll give it to a family that doesn’t have a baby because we’re done.”

However, the celebrity mom added that Rowan showed interest in his future role as a big brother after his parents told him that the baby still does not know a lot and will need to be taught or assisted. 

"He liked the idea of being a condescending presence. So, now he’s a little more optimistic.”

Danes said that this surprise baby will be their last one, and despite two babies, her husband also told Fallon that while he’s very happy about the pregnancy, he's never ever ready for another one.

Meanwhile, the pregnancy isn't slowing down Danes from working. After "Homeland," she was in the shows "The Essex Serpent" and "Fleishman Is In Trouble.” She started filming "Full Circle," her new series with HBO Max, in late 2022. Danes was cast as a Manhattan lawyer opposite Timothy Olyphant as her husband. The series has six episodes with director Steven Soderbergh at the helm. The show is about kidnappings in New York City.
