Christopher Reeve's Son Talks About Losing Both His Parents At The Age Of Thirteen

Rick Yancey wrote in "The Monstrumologists" about losing a parent. He said: "A child has little defense against the sight of a parent laid low." He continued, explaining that parents are often the most solid thing in a person's life. Parents are much like the earth below your feet. If a parent can fall apart what is stopping the mountains from tumbling? Will Reeve was confronted with this reality at a young age after his parents both tragically died shortly one after the other.

Ricky Yancey's ideas were easy to grasp. Most people have lost a parent; some have even lost both parents. Will Reeve, the son of Christopher Reeve, knows what its like to lose both parents. In fact, both of his parents had died by the time he was 13.

Christopher Reeve suffered a horrible horse-riding accident that left him severally crippled. In 2004, Christopher Reeve passed away after a bedsore led to a heart attack. Dava Reeve, Will's mother, found out she had lung cancer just a short time later. She ended up dying only 17 months after the death of Christopher.

Will Reeve was obviously devastated. Will said that he was at the lowest he been since his father died when he said his goodbyes to his mother. Will thinks of his childhood as a positive, believing that it can only get better as he moves forward.

After his parent's death, young Will was taken in by family friends. Despite the fact that he had half-siblings born to Christopher Reeves' first marriage, his mother wanted him to stay in his home town with his friends. She made all the necessary arrangements before her death.

Will Reeve was born in 1992. For a while, he dabbled at becoming an actor just like his father. He was featured in movies such as In The Gloaming (1997) and Everyone's Hero (2006). However, acting didn't capture Will's ongoing interest and he focused more on his passion for journalism and sports and even earned at spot on ESPN's Sportscenter

Will Reeve's story is truly inspiring. He lost both his parents at a young age, and he still turned out to be an incredible person.
