Choir Sings Beloved Hymn In Grain Silo With Haunting Result Sending Chills Down Everyone's Spine

God has spoken often about music. He asks Job who laid the foundations of the earth "while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?" (Job 38:7, NIV). God knew that music has been part of His creation from the beginning. Hymns are a great way to honor Him, because God speaks to us through music, too.

The Bethel College Choir brings His word to life in the most unlikely location: an empty grain solo. They prove that church can, quite literally, be anywhere. Farmer Derek Klingenberg graciously hosted the group.

The group chose to sing "Down to the River to Pray." The words are haunting in almost any context. The lyrics describe how it feels to seek God. Just go down to the river to pray and bring everyone you know with you. The river could even become a symbol of purity. Find God and you're washed clean.

Here these concepts take on a new reverence. When you hear the words echoing through the silo, it sounds as if God Himself is speaking to us. His voice is loud and mighty. All the sons of man are shouting for joy, just as He described.

The Bethel College Choir had been practicing religiously (as it were) every day before the big performance. They wanted to sound flawless. This was especially important since every noise in the silo echoes!

Finally, they assembled themselves in the silo. The choir took great care to arrange themselves just right.

And then they just start belting.

The arrangement is sweet and clear. It showcases all the singers' voices beautifully. The setting itself takes on the beauty of a church. Although the silo might at first seem plain, when it's filled with such powerful music, you start to believe.
