Chip and Joanna Gaines have been a fixture in television, primarily for their famed HGTV show “Fixer Upper.”

Joanna is a mom of five and has made a name for herself in the world of television alongside her husband, Chip. The pair first found fame from their show “Fixer Upper” before it came to an end in 2017. Even after the couple announced their last season of “Fixer Upper,” they still managed to grow their home-wellness empire, which includes the channel, Magnolia. The show’s revival, “Fixer Upper: Welcome Home,” premiered in January 2021 as part of the Magnolia Network launch on Discovery+.

It’s safe to say that the Gaineses are used to being seen by a wide audience, so Joanna’s heartfelt posts about her family online are a warm welcome to fans — and the family is quite an impressive one!

According to People Magazine, the couple welcomed their first son, Drake, in 2005. Afterward, they welcomed daughter Ella Rose in 2006, son Duke in 2008, daughter Emmie Kay in 2010 and son Crew in 2018. The two have become a staple in family entertainment, especially for those who have been fans of home renovation and improvement shows.

Like how they are in front of the camera, the same could be said behind closed doors. On an Instagram post dated June 1, 2023, Chip penned a heartfelt message to his wife, whom he shares a 20th wedding anniversary celebration with. The two had suffered a long but very rewarding relationship, as they have explained on many occasions. Keep on reading to learn more about Chip and Joanna and how their 20-year marriage came about.

Back in 2003, a relatively-unknown couple from Waco, Texas – Chip and Joanna, tied the knot in their hometown, not knowing the fame and impact they would wield in the home renovation and entertainment industry in years to come. However, Joanna candidly revealed in an interview with Jimmy Fallon that she liked Chip’s roommate, affectionately called “Hot John,” back then, whom she met while working at her father’s tire shop.

Soon after the debut of “Fixer Upper” on television, it became popular and has been credited for the popularity of the “Farmhouse-chic” interior design trend in the 2010s.

While the business catapulted the couple into fame and fortune, they have confessed that at the early stages of their marriage, they encountered quite some difficulties. Opening up to People Magazine, Chip and Joanna detailed the struggles they have successfully overcome throughout the years.

"In the first months of our marriage, we were always flipping a house. We were working on this little shop. We had babies early in the process. We pretty quickly had to say, 'We're either going to go at each other and blow this thing up, you and I trying to fight each other about every nook and cranny, or we can figure out how to come together as a team,'" the Gaines patriarch told the publication.

Despite the adversities, arguments and differences they have faced in family life, Joanna credited the timing of their marriage as their secret to overcoming their problems.

"The biggest thing is we met at a time when both of us felt pretty grounded in who we were as people by ourselves. I feel like Chip; he was a visionary. He had these businesses. And I was at a place of fully knowing who I was. It wasn't the 'you complete me' thing,” she revealed.

Elaborating more on how they managed to overcome their adversities in life, Chip eloquently explained that they go through things together as a team as opposed to bickering

"When adversity came against us — when your natural tendency is (to be) almost the ugliest to those people you love, especially in times of real pressure — with Jo and I, we felt adversity and would get together like a little team and say, 'What do you think the problem is?' As opposed to maybe typically being like, 'Well, it's because of that thing you bought' or 'because of that dumb thing you did.'”

Chip has always expressed his feelings and emotions toward his wife, Joanna. In celebration of their 20th wedding anniversary on May 31, 2023, he posted a heartfelt message to his wife.

“20 years with the most incredible, most powerful, most beautiful woman I've ever known. You've given me the most beautiful life, and I'm so grateful to God for you, @joannagaines ❤️ 20 years ago today, you made me the happiest man on earth. Thank you for everything, Jo 🥂,” he wrote

Joanna, on the other hand, shared photos of them together in a photo booth looking adorably wacky and sweet as a couple.

In the comment section of Chip’s Instagram post, comments congratulating them on their milestone were posted.

“Happy anniversary! 20 years of creating home for people and killing it 🙌🏼,” a fan wrote.

“Happy Anniversary — nothing greater than finding your one 💕,” another commented.

“Happy Anniversary Chip & Jo!! May God give you many many more happy years together!! someone congratulated.
