Catherine Zeta Jones’ Daughter Inherited Her Famous Mother’s Beauty

Carys Zeta Douglas—the daughter of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas—certainly has inherited her mother's looks and that star-quality from her father's side of the family. With a grandfather like Kirk Douglas, it's no secret that Carys has big shoes to fill—but she also has been born into a family full of talent—a talent she is definitely cultivating within herself.

Carys was born to her mother Catherine and father Michael on April 3rd, 2003. She lived with her parents and younger brother, Dylan, in Bermuda until 2009, before the family settled down in rural New York State in 2016. Because the family has always been away from the hustle-and-bustle of Hollywood, Carys even admitted once that she didn't know her father was an actor.

Carys told Town & Country magazine in an interview:

"I thought my dad was a pancake maker. I didn't know he was an actor. Honestly."

Carys' parents have always been in the limelight, whether it be separately, or together. Michael Kirk Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones met in 1996 at the Deauville Film Festival. According to E! Online, Catherine knew that Michael wanted to meet her, but she was wary of this because she didn't know what that would exactly mean.

By New Year's Eve of 1999, Michael and Catherine were engaged, and they got married later that year in New York. Given how their relationship has unfolded, Catherine is probably quite happy that she had the great fortune to meet Michael and build their family together.

The famous parenting pair have always made a point of making sure that Carys knows that she is living an extraordinary life. In 2017, she attended Fashion Week for the first time. The following year, Carys went to New York a second time and enjoyed the fashion shows and parties all over again, including those of Michael Kors and even Dolce & Gabbana. She was probably thrilled to be able to attend the event for a second year in a row, even though she was only a teenager.

It is clear that Carys Zeta Douglas is equally as striking as her mother! Vanity Fair Spain seems to agree given that they invited both Catherine Zeta-Jones and Carys to appear on its cover for the September 2019 issue. They were dressed alike the day of their photoshoot, and they looked like two peas in a pod.

This isn't the first time the pair have shown off their power as a modeling duo. Carys and Catherine have done this before with other magazines. Carys found herself on her first cover back in 2018 when she and her mom posed for Town & Country magazine. Carys told the magazine that she feels that she has to work harder to step out of the limelight from her famous parents as well as from her late grandfather Kirk Douglas.

Carys told Town & Country in her interview:

"Fashion has been so important in my life, because my mom is like a fashion icon to me. I’m always looking through her closet.” 

Carys even has her own favorite item from her mom Catherine's closet:

“She has this one thing, and it’s absolutely crazy. It’s this pink kimonoey coat, but it has this fur and these fringes. It’s just so cool.”

When it comes to her mother Catherine, she is surely proud of her daughter's own personal style development. Catherine told Town & Country:

“[Carys ] has her own individual style. She’s modern but age-appropriate."

Catherine went on to praise her daughter's evolving fashion sense:

"I’ve never had to turn to Carys and say, ‘I think that’s a little inappropriate.’ Once she said, ‘Mom, I really like this romper.’ I went, ‘Mmm, but don’t you think it’s cut a little too long? Shouldn’t it be shorter?’ She went, ‘Mom, you’re the only mother in the world that would tell a 15-year-old girl that the romper should be shorter.’”

Carys has without a doubt taken a lot after her mother in terms of looks, and a lot after her father in terms of being able to thrive in the spotlight, even if that means one of a photoshoot rather than strictly Hollywood. It will certainly be interesting to see how her fashion sense and career develops, but it's definitely looking hopeful for Carys.

Who knows, maybe she'll continue to steer into the fashion industry and pave her own path apart from acting. With her talent and the support of the Douglas family legacy, almost anything is possible for Carys Zeta-Jones, and we're looking forward to seeing her come into her own!
